A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN

IN MATHEMATICS IV

I. OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, the pupils are expected to:

a) identify the kinds of angles (right, acute, and obtuse);
b) describe the different kinds of angle; and
c) illustrate the different kinds of angle.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Describing and Illustrating different angles
Reference: Soaring High with Mathematics Lesson 3 book page 184-185.
Author: Ofelia G. Chingcuangco, M.A. Ed, Federico C. Castillo, Ed, D.
Materials: Visual aids, Pictures, Protractor and Fan
Strategies: Cooperative learning and direct teaching.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Preparatory Activity
• Greetings
• Prayer
• Classroom management
• Checking of attendance
• Review of previous lesson: Kinds of Lines

B. Developmental activities
1. Motivation
The teacher will perform a song, and the pupils will participate by singing and dancing.
I’m Alive, Alert, Awake, Enthusiastic. I’m Alive, Alert, Awake, Enthusiastic. I’m Alive,
Alert, Awake. Awake, Alert, Alive. I’m Alive, Alert, Awake, Enthusiastic. 3x
2. Presentation
Angle is formed when two rays meet at a point called the vertex.

Types of angles based on their measurement.

Sample figure Kinds of angle Description

An acute angle is an angle

Acute that measures less than 90° . It
is smaller than a right angle.

Right The right angle is an angle

which measures exactly 90° .

An obtuse angle is an angle

Obtuse that measures more than 90°
but less than 180° .

Straight A straight angle is an angle

which measures exactly 180° .

3. Generalization
An angle is formed when two rays meet at a point called the vertex.
Angles have different measures.
An acute angle measures more than 0 degree but less than 90° .
A right angle measure exactly 90° . An obtuse angle measures more than 90° but less than
180˚. A straight angle measure exactly 180° . Angles can be named using the vertex..

4. Application
Classify the following pictures as acute, right, obtuse and straight angle.

IV. Evaluation
Get a 1/4 sheet of paper and write the letter of the correct answer.
True or False. Write True if the statement is correct, and write False if the statement is false.

1. An acute angle measures between 0 and 90 degrees.

2. A right angle measures exactly 90 degrees.
3. An acute angle is smaller than a right angle.
4. A straight angle measures exactly 180 degrees.
5. A right angle is larger than an obtuse angle
6. A right angle looks like an L shape.
7. Obtuse angles arte wider than acute angles.
8. An obtuse angles are wider than acute angles.
9. Acute angles are sharp like a tip of a pencil.
10. A straight angle is like a flat line.

V. Assignment
Angle Classification
Instructions:
1. Identify and draw examples of acute, right, obtuse, and straight angles.
2. Measure the angles using a protractor.
3. Classify each angle as acute, right, obtuse, or straight.
4. Create a chart or table to record the angle measurements and classifications.

Materials needed:
 Construction paper
 Ruler
 Pencil
 Protractor
