REFLECTION ON GESTALT PSYCHOLOGY

The gestalt psychology is a theory that contains of six principles these include
the similarity, continuation, closure, proximity, figure or ground, and symmetry and order,
they have illuminated how we perceive and make sense of the world around us. Gestalt
psychology basically about the role of human in relation to perception and interpretation,
it is about how we perceive and interpret the objects around us. In this theory, it imply
that learners are not passive, since they can create their own idea, rather than relying
on information providing by the teacher. This theory emphasizes that learners are not
only following and listening to the discussion, but they are a receiver who interpret the
information they have acquired. Moreover, it is a study that emphasizes the importance
of holistic perception and understanding in human experience.

In my own understanding, gestalt psychology is about interpreting the things that

we perceived around us. Throughout the discussion, I learned on how our brain works
and organized information that I have acquired throughout the learning process.
Additionally, it also implies on how we process and connect our ideas in determining or
understanding a certain concept. The capacity of our brain to create whole forms, since
our mind do not simply focus on the small component, but we focus on the whole. There
are instances that I integrate my ideas and newly acquired information, in order to widen
my knowledge. Gestalt psychology is evident in our everyday life, as a student it helps
me to organize the content of lessons as well in forming meaningful relationships
between patterns. In complex and chaotic world, it allow us to create meaning from
what we perceive and orderly arrange our experience.

To summarize, reflecting on gestalt psychology encourages me to be mindful of

the complexities of perception. Gestalt psychology has influenced on how we study
perception and sensation. It also increases our understanding of how our cognitive
processes influence the way we behave socially. It is significant in some aspects of our
lives as it furtherly explain the important role of our mind in terms of interpreting our
perception and ideas. Additionally, it focuses on helping individuals to become more
aware of our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the present moment as it encourages
personal growth and self-understanding. In conclusion, it provides me with a better
understanding on how our minds naturally organize information, thus we can enhance
our ability to find innovative solutions and think creatively.
