Nowadays, cultures around the world are becoming more similar, but people
disagree about the effects of this trend. Some suggest that one disadvantage of
global culture is that people don’t feel proud enough of where they live. Too many
high streets now have the same shops and large companies are becoming too
powerful, so there is not enough money to keep small businesses going.
However, many argue that the advantage of international culture is that we can
share knowledge and discoveries, which can make communities wealthy enough to
improve their cities. Also, thanks to the Internet, locals can share enough
information with the world to contribute to international culture.
In my opinion, we need to recognise the opportunities of a global culture, but we
must also make sure that no single country or company has too much control over
it, because it’s vital to consider the views of all communities.
