Topic: “JOBS” Simple present (questions-writing)

This is an activity for secondary students/adults.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, students will be able to…

1. Understand daily activities using the simple present tense.


2. To give short answers in simple present.
3. To read and recognize simple present sentences.
4. To develop written expressions of thoughts.
5. Write a paragraph using the correct form of the verbs in simple present.

Activity:

1) Answer questions about your job with short answers.

Pre-writing activity: as this is a classroom activity, before writing their own paragraphs, the teacher
will give the students some useful tips for them to bear in mind: “Write a list of general ideas
about the chosen topic, make a mind map with key words, look up words in the dictionary to help
you.”

2) Write a short paragraph about the job from the previous exercise (1). Use your
answers to help you.

READING

Topic: “JOBS” Simple present .

This is an activity for secondary students/adults.

2. Establish a purpose for reading.
3. Identify the main idea in a text.
4. Identify simple present sentences.
5. Write verbs in the correct form of simple present.

Pre-reading activity: teacher will explain what’s the purpose for this reading, she will point at key
words for students to pay attention to.

SPEAKING

1. Ask and answer questions in simple present.


2. Interact with classmates in English.
3. Develop better pronounciation.

Pre-reading activity: before starting, the teacher will read the questions out loud for them
to check pronounciation, then she will only answer the 1st question as a model.

ACTIVITY: Ask and answer

1) Work in pairs. Ask to your classmate the following questions out loud.
LISTENING

Topic: “JOBS” Simple present.

This is an activity for secondary students/adults.

Objectives:

At the conclusion of this activity, students will be able to…

1. Understand the pronounciation of certain words (jobs vocabulary).


2. Develop listening skills.
3. Relate the description of jobs with their names.

Pre-reading activity: the teacher will explain that they have to try to listen to the audio
only 3 times: 1st to get a general idea, 2nd to identify and write the words, 3rd to check.

ACTIVITY:

1) Read the sentences as many times as you need.


2) Listen to the audio file.
3) Complete the sentences with the vocabulary on the left.
D: Secuencias didácticas
Secuencia didáctica is a way of planning that follows certain strategies, in which teachers
can show their creativity and imagination. It takes into account the context and social
conditions students bring. Secuencia didactica is part of the annual planning, it focuses on
certain topics that students should learn and works on them intensively. This way of
planning offers a huge diversity of methods that teachers can apply. The activities must be
connected with each other so students can construct their own meaning.
