THE PENITENTIAL RITE
C: My brothers and sisters, to prepare
ourselves to celebrate the sacred
mysteries, let us call to mind our sins
A: I confess to almighty God, and to you,
my brothers and sisters, that I have
greatly sinned in my thoughts and in my
words, in what I have done and in what I
have failed to do, (and, striking their
breast, they say) through my fault, through
my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary, ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints, and you my
brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the
Lord our God. Amen.
THE ABSOLUTION
C: May Almighty God have mercy on us,
forgive us our sins, and bring us to
everlasting life.
A: Amen.
THE GLORIA
Glory to God in the highest and on earth
peace to people of good will! We praise
you, we bless you, we adore you, we
glorify you, we give you thanks for your
great glory. Lord God heavenly King, O
God, almighty Father!
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,
you take away the sins of the world, have
mercy on us; you take away the sins of the
world, receive our prayer; you are seated
at the right hand of the Father, have mercy
on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone
are the Lord, you alone are the Most High,
Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the
glory of God the Father. Amen.

38:1, 8-11
The Lord answered Job out of the
whirlwind, “Who shut in the sea with
doors, when it burst forth from the womb;
when I made clouds its garment, and thick
darkness its swaddling band, and
prescribed bounds for it, and set bars and
doors, and said, ‘Thus far shall you come,
and no farther, and here shall your proud
waves be stayed’?”

106:23-26, 28-31 R) v. 1
Response:
O give thanks to the Lord, for his love
endures for ever.
Some sailed to the sea in ships
to trade on the mighty waters.
These men have seen the Lord’s deeds,
the wonders he does in the deep.
For he spoke; he summoned the gale.
tossing the waves of the sea
up to heaven and back into the deep;
their soul melted away in their distress.
Then they cried to the Lord in their need
and he rescued them from their distress
He stilled the storm to a whisper:
all the waves of the sea were hushed.
They rejoiced because of the calm
and he led them to the haven they desired.
Let them thank the Lord for his love,
the wonders he does for men.

A reading from the Second Letter of St.
Paul to the Corinthians 5:14-17
The love of Christ controls us, because we
are convinced that one has died for all;
therefore all have died. And he died for all,
that those who live might live no longer for
themselves but for him who for their sake
died and was raised.
From now on, therefore, we regard no one
from a human point of view; even though
we once regarded Christ from a human
point of view, we regard him thus no
longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he
is a new creation; the old has passed
away, behold, the new has come.

According to St. Mark 4:35-41
On that day, when evening had come,
Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go
across to the other side.” And leaving the
crowd, they took him with them in the
boat, just as he was. And other boats were
with him. And a great windstorm arose,
and the waves were breaking into the
boat, so that the boat was already filling.
But he was in the stern, asleep on the
cushion; And they woke him and said to
him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are
perishing?” And he awoke and rebuked
the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace! Be
still!” And the wind ceased, and there was
a great calm. He said to them, “Why are
you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” And
they were filled with great fear and said to
one another, “Who then is this, that even
the wind and the sea obey him?”

CREED

I believe in God, the Father almighty,

Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus
Christ, his only Son, our Lord’ (all bow)
who was conceived by the Holy
Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered
under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died
and was buried; he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the
dead; he ascended into heaven, and is
seated at the right hand of God the Father
almighty; from there he will come to judge
