Glenn Martens is a Paris-based, Belgian designer and the creative director of both Diesel and
Y/Project. Martens sees his designs as a way to create a frame past the limits of the body. His
work is steeped in gothic imagery taken from Flemish masters, often reworked through a
contemporary, digitally informed lens. This juxtaposition plays a central role here, balancing the
historical with the now. A substantial portfolio shot in his hometown of Bruges plays on this theme,
with iconic Belgian models photographed throughout the medieval city. Contributors to this issue
include photographers Paul Kooiker and Zhong Lin, architect Michelle Deng of OMA, stylist
Ursina Gysi, and more.

Exactly one year after the end of the Second World War, Junichi Nakahara launched a women's
magazine called 'Soreiyu' (Soleil). Nakahara described the new magazine by comparing it to a
flower, appealing to readers by proclaiming, "We are all human being who like to decorate our
homes with flowers!" Amid the despair and confusion after Japan's defeat, this line expressed a
desire to make it something that would help people remember their human dignity, which many
had lost during wartime. Aside from articles on clothes, cosmetics, and hairstyles, it also featured
cultural content that had been restricted during the war. This book is a tribute to the magazine's
legacy.

The power of graphic design and typography to communicate social change, local cultural
concerns, and universal human and environmental challenges has become central to global
design discourse. This book focuses on Arab and Persian contemporary design and highlights
works by a select group of talented designers from various countries in the Southwest Asia and
North Africa region and its diaspora. The diversity of graphic expression this area represents is
linked by the creative use of Arabic letterforms, often in playful and experimental ways that reflect
fluid calligraphic designs, structured geometric compositions, or an intricate and unexpected mix
of both.

"A successful dish is like a work of art, a perfect blend of rules and imagination". For fifteen years,
the BRAC Bookshop in Florence has been combining good vegetarian and vegan cuisine and
publishing dedicated to the languages of contemporary art. A formula that is an expression of the
passions of the two owners, Sacha and Melisa: an imaginative chef specialising in vegetarian and
vegan cuisine who is in love with comics and illustration, and a bibliophile with an interest in
contemporary art in all its forms of expression (art, theatre, dance, cinema, photography). Since
its opening in 2009 to date, the Brac has organised and hosted around 1,800 meetings and book
presentations, promoted and realised several festivals, events and exhibitions. This volume
collects 80 recipes, born and served within the BRAC, entrusted to the free interpretation of 78
contemporary artists.
