Learning Outcomes of Placement

This placement is connected with the Pastoral Ministry Course. The learning outcomes of the
course which are relevant to the placement are set out below:
By the end of the placement the candidate will have:
 experienced a variety of pastoral situations at first hand

 considered and discussed how to handle a range of pastoral situations with the
placement supervisor

 reflected and received feedback on their own practice of pastoral care from the
placement supervisor
At the end of the placement, both supervisor and candidate will complete an assessment, which
will feed into the end of year report prepared by LCT.

Learning Agreement

Candidates are expected to be in the placement context for a total of 25 hours, spread over
March, April and May 2020.
Give details of:
a) the work which the candidate will undertake during the placement
 Observe and participate in (as deemed appropriate by the supervisor) a range of pastoral
ministry, including (if possible) a pastoral home visit, a bereavement visit, a home
communion, and a hospital visit. Opportunities to pray with those visited would also be
valuable. The candidate and supervisor are jointly responsible for agreeing times and
occasions on which the placement will be undertaken and the learning outcomes
addressed.
 Meet at least twice during the placement for supervision and to allow the candidate to
reflect on the process (more frequent meetings may be necessary for some).
 Engage in regular theological reflection on the situations encountered and experience
gained in the placement: discuss with placement supervisor how these experiences might
inform, and be informed by, theology.
 Keep notes to inform the content of the final report.
 The candidate is expected to attend at the agreed times and follow all appropriate
guidance and instructions from the local supervisor.

If it becomes necessary to change the agreed work pattern in any way (e.g. change of supervisor),
the candidate must liaise closely with LCT and copies of the changes agreed (e.g. email print-outs)
must be kept with this learning agreement by the candidate and LCT.

Candidate Date

Placement Supervisor Date

For Lindisfarne Date

Many thanks for the time you gave me to set this placement up.
As I said the placement runs for 25 hours over the period indicated above. During
that time there should be two formal supervision sessions between you (there can
be more if either of you feel that to be necessary). Should there be any need to alter
the placement please ensure that this is done after consulting me, so that any
changes can be added to the placement. If any difficulties occur, again please et me
know as soon as possible.

As we discussed the main foci of the placement are as follows:

1. Experiencing pastoral engagement with those using 'Warm Space'
2. Using the opportunities given for pastoral ministry of the 'Occasional Offices'.
3. Shadowing and participating in general Pastoral Visiting as occasion permits.

The final report from the supervisor is due by May 30 th 2023 and should be sent to
Alison Blackburn, the course leader, at Alison@lindisfarnect.org

Many thanks again for all your cooperation in this matter.
