Hiring Process and Insights from an Interview with a School Principal

For this assignment, I interviewed the assistant principal of our school to find out more

about the hiring process. A comparison of the personalized experiences of the hiring process was

elicited from the interview session, three broad interview questions, the reasons why they were

asked, and the respondents' answers.

Reviewing is the initial step in hiring process, which involves reviewing the applicants to

ensure that they meet the hiring qualifications (Ganon-Shilon & Schechter, 2019). Finally, out of

all the applicants, some are called to interview, and this is usually done by a panel involving

administrators and teachers. The last one is a teaching demonstration to analyze the candidate's

pedagogy in a live class.

Three commonly asked interview questions are:

Question 1: "How do you differentiate instruction in a diverse classroom?"

Rationale: This question assesses the candidate's ability to tailor teaching methods to

meet the needs of all students, ensuring inclusivity and effective learning.

Question 2: "Describe a time when you handled a challenging classroom situation."

Rationale: This question helps evaluate the candidate's problem-solving skills and

classroom management strategies.

Question 3: "How do you incorporate technology into your teaching?"

Rationale: This question determines the candidate's proficiency with educational

technology and their ability to enhance student engagement and learning.

Regarding the extra questions, the assistant principal stressed qualities such as flexibility,

teamwork, and enthusiasm regarding the profession (Marzuki, 2019). When reviewing

applications, it looks at experience, excellent references, and recommendations and focuses on

the success of the students.

In conclusion, I realized how rigid and time-consuming the recruitment procedure is and

how many factors are involved in this process. Explaining the purpose of certain questions

within the interview pointed to the need to recruit effective employees in terms of their

qualifications as well as their ability to influence positive learning outcomes among students.
