Subject: New brush assembly

TEXT: In the course of the permanent further development we constructed an op-

timized brush assembly and tested it for many months with large success.

Thus results in the following changes for the service:

The slip ring assembly, part No. 110-222.X15, Stock No. 3601361 used so
far, consisting of slip ring PCB, Brush assembly and software, will be no
longer available.

In the future the slip ring PCB and the new brush assembly can be ordered
and exchanged separately from each other.

The new brush assembly can be used with all different slip ring PCB´s in
use.

INSTRUCTIONS: In case of problems within the range of the slip rings/brushes should be
proceeded in the following order:

1. Dampen a clean paper cloth with Isopropanol and clean the slip rings
intensively with it.

2. Check the condition of the slip rings.

If still no clear wear is visible, the slip rings should, if not yet hap-
pened, as described in our Service Bulletin 11/2004, be protected
with „CRAMOLIN®-SCHUTZ“

If however abrasion is determined, the complete PCB 110-222.X03

should be exchanged.

3. In case of problems within the range of the brushes only the complete
brush assembly can be replaced with the new type 110-222.X18.

It has to be installed at the

same position, where the
previous brush assembly
was installed.

IMPORTANT HINTS: The brush assembly is supplied in a special packing.

Please absolutely note

that this may be opened OPEN THIS SIDE ONLY!
only at the side, which is
marked with the label:

After opening of the special

packing reach into the upper
case of the internal package
and pull out the complete con-
tent carefully.

A damage of the brushes is

prevented by attention of
these references.

Turn the insert and remove

the brush assembly carefully.

By no means touch or bend

the brushes during pull out or
installation!

REMARKS: Since a large number of compasses works very well with the former type
of brushes installed so far, it is not intended to make a general refitting on
all ships!
