Instruction for Continued Airworthiness 350-23-0018ICA. The operator must notify Avionics
Services if the aircraft owner is changed.
SUMMARY
SECTION 1 – GENERAL
ANEXO A-CPL
SECTION 1 - GENERAL
1.1-APPLICABILITY
The Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) described herein are applicable only to
the aircraft modified in accordance with Avionics Services Installation Manual
N. 350-23-0018IM. The ICA describes the recommended and required maintenance
procedures for TRACPLUS ROCKAIR SATELLITE/CELULAR TRACKER SYSTEM installation,
and is to be distributed only to applicable certifying authorities and aircraft operator with
this specific system installed.
1.2-DESCRIPTION
Note: The Rockair Tracker has a backup battery that even after shutdown, it
automatically transmits queued reports and messages.
The cell / battery pack has a Protective Circuit Module (PCM) that can protect cell /
battery pack properly.
PCM has the following functions:
• Overcharge prevention
• Over-discharge prevention
• Over current
A. Overcharge Protection
Overcharging prevention function shall stop charging if any cell of the battery pack
reaches 4.30V.
B. Over-discharge Protection
Over-discharging protection function shall monitor the voltage of every cell in the
pack.
All sensor inputs are electrically isolated digital or “switch type” inputs. There are no
analog inputs on the RockAIR.
Relays are installed to isolate a specific aircraft system function from each discrete
signal sent to Tracker for event registration of the aircraft system
The Rockair is installed onto the instrument panel in order to be clear of obstructions
and has the greatest possible hemispherical view of the sky. It is tested under RTCA
DO-160G for vibration, over-voltage reverse polarity and others.
The RockAir receives 28VDC power from the PP5 (or pp31) bus bar through a 1 A
circuit breaker PN MS26574-1A identified as “TRACKER” (see drawing AS-350-23-
0018 and AS-350-23-1018).
The system interfaces block diagram and related functions are described as follows:

2.2 REMOVAL
2.2.1 For the RockAir removal, follow the steps below:
A. Get access to the Instrument panel.
B. Remove the RockAir tracker by removing the Mounting Clip.
C. Disconnect the RockAir tracker from harness.
3.1-BATTERY
Backup battery: replaced every 5 years.
The RockAir Tracker included in this ICA has been designed for “On Condition”
maintenance. A Functional test can guarantee the correct operation of the system.
3.2-ZONAL INSPECTION
A Zonal Inspection must be executed every year. Rockair tracker wires and cables routes
through the Instrument panel and collective areas, must be inspected as follows:
- Wires, cables and switch are mechanical attached, and free from movement parts.
- Wires and cables routed are far from any flammable liquid line and should be closely
clamped and rigidly supported.
- No fuel, oil or any other component should be detected in the harness that can, in the
future, cause any damage or fire. If it occurs, the point that is causing the leakage must
be repaired and the area cleaned.
-No broken cable or wire is acceptable; if necessary they must be repaired. Use the
approved procedures described in the AC43-13-1B.
-Check Circuit Breaker operation.
There is no additional Airworthiness Limitation that results from the Rockair Satellite/Cellular
Tracker System installation.
