FMS assessments

Overhead deep squat: We chose the deep squat because it is part of many functional movements
that would help our client with is strength and hypertrophy goals. The purpose of this test is to
assess bilateral, symmetrical, functional mobility of the hips, knees, and ankle (FMS). This
assessment relates to our client because he is looking to get stronger and bigger, and assuring he
has no imbalances or tightness in certain areas will allow him to fully optimise his hypertrophic
and strength goals in his lower body.
Active straight leg raise: We chose the active straight leg raise to assess our clients active
mobility of the flexed hip. The purpose of this assessment is to test our clients hip and hamstring
flexibility while maintaining a stability in the torse (FMS). This applies to our client because he
is looking to get stronger and bigger, and assuring he has no mobility/flexibility imbalances, it
will optimise his hypertrophic and strength training.
Stability push up: We chose the Stability push up to assess our clients core stability and upper
body strength. The purpose of this test is to assess trunk stability in the sagittal plane. This
applies to our client because many exercises require a lot of core stability such as: standing
barbell overhead press and pull ups. So having good core stability will optimise his strength and
hypertrophy.
Rotary Stability test: We chose this assessment to test our clients core stability. The purpose of
this test is to assess our clients multi planner trunk stability during a combined upper and lower
extremity motion. This applies to our client because having good core stability will transfer over
to other exercises such as: deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, barbell squats, etc. This will optimise
his hypertrophy and strength gains.
Hurdle Step: We chose the hurdle step to assess or clients hip mobility and trunk stability. The
purpose of this test is to assess the client’s hip mobility, stability, coordination, and single leg
stance ability. This applies to our client because we want to assure our client has proper mobility
and stability on both legs to optimise hypertrophy and strength gains while aloes preventing
muscle imbalances.
