When we are drying fruits we use


sulfur dioxide

Why do we use sulfur ?

To keep fresh for a long time


We use as a preservative and
anti oxidant
We use it variety of foods such
as dried fruits to extent the shelf
life and prevent browning of
foods
How do we sulfur foods?
Sublimed sulfur is ignited and
burned in a en closed box with
the fruit
The sulfur films penetrate the
fruit and act as pre treatment
By retarding spoilage and
darkening of the fruit.

How do we store our dried


fruits?
1.Store them in an air tight
container
2.Store your dried fruits in a
zipper bag
3. Store them in the fridge of
freezer
4.Store them in a dry and cool
area away from direct sunlight
5. Pack them in an insect- proof
container

How are dried fruits and foods re


constituted ?

The process of restoring the fruit


to its state by adding water

-Place the dried fruit in a pan or
pot and cover with boiling water ,
simmer covered until tender
( about 15 minutes )
-Dried fruits can be re constituted
for use in pies,Smoothies , cakes

-Fruit Leather is a tasty chewy


dried fruit product.They ae made
by pouring pureed fruit on a
drying rake and dried in a
commercial fruit dryer or
commercial dehydrater or oven
When making fruit leather select
ripe or slightly over ripe
fruit .wash, remove seeds,
remove peels and cut the fruit
