1.2 Identify the risks in the bacteriology section posed by bio-hazardous materials & be
able to
identify the different biosafety & toxic hazard symbols.
1.3 Define nosocomial infection & give examples
1.4 Know the general concepts for specimen collection and handling.
1.5 Demonstrate correct hand washing technique.
1.6 Know the proper use of a fire extinguisher.

ACTIVITY

A. DEMONSTRATE THE PROPER PROCEDURE ON HANDWASHING


RUBRICS 1 0
1. Student removes jewelry and accessories on the
hands and wrist.
2. Student has prepared all necessary materials
needed for the procedure.
3. Student turns on the faucet and allows water to flow
into the sink, wets hands with water.
4. Student applies soap on his/her hands, rubs hands
together to form a lather.
5. Student rubs hands palm to palm.
6. Student rubs back of each hand with palm of other
hand with fingers interlaced.
7. Student rubs palm to palm with fingers interlaced.
8. Student rubs with back of fingers to opposing palms
with fingers interlocked.
9. Student rubs each thumb clasped in opposite hand
using a rotational movement.
10. Student rubs tip of fingers in opposite palms in a
circular motion.
11. Student rubs each wrist with opposite hand.
12. Student with fingers facing down, rinse hands with
water.
13. Student dries hands thoroughly using towel / paper
tissue.
14. Student switches faucet off using the used towel /
paper towel.
15. Student disposes wastes generated in appropriate
containers.

B. DEMONSTRATE THE PROPER PROCEDURE OF REMOVING GLOVES


RUBRICS 2 0
1. Pinch and Hold the outside of the gloves near the
wrist area
2. Peel downward and away from the wrist turning the
glove inside and out
3. Pull the glove away until it is removed from the
hand, holding the inside out glove with the gloved
hand
4. With your un gloved hand, slide your finger under the
wrist area of the remaining glove and pull downwards
5. Continue to pull downward until the gloves are
removed. Dispose gloves and wash hands
