SYNOPSIS

The aim of our project is to take a system-wide approach to operating a lifter

arrangement continuously. This system includes not just the machine and the operator, but
rather, it includes everything from the initial design of the machine to the training of everyone
that is responsible for any aspect of it, to the documentation of all changes, to regular safety
audits and finally corporate culture of pneumatic system.

Design is the part of a machine’s life where the greatest impact can be made in relation to
avoiding heavy manpower. The designer should ensure that the machine is safe & easy to set
up and operate, safe & easy to install, safe & easy to maintain, safe & easy to repair, and safe
to decommission.

Although safe & easy operation is usually at the forefront of a designer’s mind, safe
maintenance and repair should also be a high priority.

In our project we are designing a safe and easy lifter system by using pneumatic cylinder,
valve and with compressed air.
ADVANTAGES

1. Pneumatic lifter develops greater forces than mechanical pressure and hence it is for

forming, bending, and drawing and extrusion operations.

2. The pneumatic lifter can exert its full forces at any pistion of the ram stroke whereas the

force is maximum at the end of stroke in mechanical press.

3. The sliding action of the punch slide is uniform.

4. The length of stroke can be varied even within small ranges.

5. No noise, no vibrations and hence smooth operation.

6. Stroke length and piston of stroke can be varied easily.

7. Wide speed ranges.

8. Inertia losses are less.

DISADVANTAGES

1. Initial cost is high

2. High maintenance cost
