2.4.3 BCU
The BCU is swappable and supports power conversion, current equalization, and
BCU (intra-cabinet BMS) management.
● Converts the power of battery strings. When the consistency between battery
strings is poor, the BCU controls the current balance between battery strings
through voltage boosting and balance adjustment to implement active
current equalization and intelligent voltage equalization. Old and new battery
strings can be used together, ensuring reliable system operation.
● Implements intra-cabinet and inter-cabinet communication, collects sampling
signals from battery modules, and collects voltage and current signals from
the battery cabinet.
● Protects against exceptions such as overvoltage, undervoltage, overcurrent,
overtemperature, undertemperature, and leakage current in the battery
cabinet.
NOTE
Only the BCU with the BOM number 02313PYT-001 supports online leakage current
detection.

Wear personal protective equipment and use dedicated insulated tools to avoid
electric shocks or short circuits.
DANGER
Assign at least three persons or use a lifting trolley to move a battery module.
When using a lifting trolley, adjust the trolley to facilitate transportation and
installation.
● If you use a lifting trolley to install a battery module, the center of gravity of
the module is on the tray when the module is pushed beyond the warning
line. You can lower the tabletop of the lifting trolley to separate the module
from the tabletop, and then push the module inwards. Doing so prevents the
front cover of the battery module from colliding with the lifting trolley.
● If you use a lifting trolley to remove a battery module, the center of gravity of
the module is on the trolley when the module is pulled beyond the warning
line. You can raise the tabletop of the lifting trolley to separate the module
from the tray, and then pull the module outwards. Doing so prevents the tail
of the battery module from colliding with the front cover of the battery
module on the lower layer.
WARNING
Tighten the screws on copper bars or cables to the torque specified in this
document. Periodically confirm whether the screws are tightened, check for rust,
corrosion, or other foreign objects, and clean them up if any. Loose screw
connections will result in excessive voltage drops and batteries may catch fire
when the current is high.
WARNING
When installing batteries, do not place installation tools, metal parts, or sundries
on the batteries. After the installation is complete, clean up the objects on the
batteries and the surrounding area.
CAUTION
NOTICE
Step 1 Turn off the ready switch on the BCU, remove the bolts that secure the BCU, and
pull it out for about 10 cm.

Step 3 Open the front cover of a battery module, install the baffle plate, and tighten the
two screws. Check the insulation performance of battery modules. Set a
multimeter to the DC voltage mode and measure the voltage between the positive
and negative terminals of each battery module and the screws on the battery
baffle plate respectively. If the readings are less than 6 V DC, the insulation is
good. Otherwise, contact technical support engineers.

Step 4 Install battery communications cables and a cover at the last but one layer of the
right column.
NOTE
In the half-capacity cabinet scenario, connect the cable reserved on the rightmost side of
the cabinet when you install a communications cable at the bottom layer.
NOTICE
To prevent the communications cable from being damaged, place the cable in the
buckle when connecting the cable, and then close the front cover of the battery
module.

WARNING
● Do not open the protective covers for the positive and negative terminals of a
battery module at the same time. Close the protective covers for the terminals
where copper bars have been installed.
● After removing the insulation cap from a power cable, install the cable
immediately to prevent the exposed terminal from touching the shell, which
may cause sparks or burns.
● Ensure that unused terminals and cables are properly insulated. If an insulation
cap or insulation layer is damaged, repair it promptly.
NOTE

● For details about how to route negative battery cables at the bottom layer in the 6+6
and 6+0 scenarios, see Figure 5-43.
● For details about how to route negative battery cables at the bottom layer in the 7+7
and 7+0 scenarios, see Figure 5-42.

Step 6 After installing copper bars and cables, check that battery strings are insulated
from the cabinet. Set a multimeter to the DC voltage mode and measure the
voltage between the uncoated part of the battery cabinet and the positive and
negative terminals of each battery string respectively. If the readings are less than
6 V DC, the insulation is good. Otherwise, contact technical support engineers.
Step 7 After checking that the battery strings are well insulated, close the front cover of
each battery module.
NOTICE
When closing the front cover on a battery module, check and arrange all cables of
the board (the cascading cable must be placed in the notch). Ensure that no cable
is squeezed by the covers.
Step 8 Attach PP sheets to the notches of the battery modules on the top layer to
prevent foreign matter from falling into the cabinet.
NOTICE
When attaching a sheet, align it with the edge of the front cover of battery
modules and ensure that the front cover can be opened and closed properly after
it is attached.
Step 10 Select the corresponding model on the nameplate of the cabinet based on the
quantity of installed battery modules. (The figure uses 14 battery modules as an
example.)
