Mousetrap Instructions –

Sarp Erkin

Tools Required
1) Pencil 2) Ruler 3) Glue stick
Parts list
1) 8.5 x 11 in. stiff paper 2) 1.25 in. diameter,
0.25 in. wide rubber band

(2x) (6x)

3) 1.25 in. diameter 0.0625 in. wide rubber band

(1x)

Section A: Trap Cover


1) With a PENCIL, mark out lines on the stiff paper as shown in the
image below (do not draw the arrows, they are for your reference
only).

2) Cut the DOTTED LINES with scissors as shown in the image below.
3) Fold all the remaining pencil lines as shown in the image below

4) Evenly apply glue on the places marked on the image shown in the
image below (you are not required to mark the crosses).
5) Join the glued section to the adjacent side as shown in the image
below.

SECTION B: Trap Base


1) Using a DIFFERENT sheet of stiff paper, with a
PENCIL, mark out lines as shown in the image
below.
2) Using scissors cut the DOTTED LINES ONLY
as shown in the image below.

3) Fold the black line as shown in the image below.

4) Evenly apply glue where the cross is shown in the


image below.
5) Join the base with the cover as shown in the image
below so that the side with glue is in contact with the
inner side of the cover.
SECTION C: Trigger
Mechanism
1) In Pencil, mark out the dimensions on paper as
shown in the image below (you do not need to
draw the arrow)

2) With scissors cut the along the black line.


3) Fold it in half lengthways as shown below.
4)Roll up the folded sheet lengthways

5) Secure the paper by applying one of the thick


rubber bands on each end as shown in the image
below.

6) Repeat steps 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 of this section


7) Join the two rolls by looping one thick band three
times on each side in a cross shape.
8) Loop the thin rubber band around the intersection of
the two rolls as shown in the image below.

SECTION D:
Assembly
1) With the PENCIL poke a 3mm hole in the top of the cover
as shown in the image below.
2) Loop the thin rubber band through the hole
and tie it off as shown in the image below.

ARMING THE TRAP


Draw a cross 7cm from the midpoint of the edge as
shown in the image below, place the end of the roll
on it and when something touches it, it will collapse
along with the cover trapping the ping pong ball.
