INTRODUCTION:

This Physical Security Survey Report aims to assess the security measures
and vulnerabilities of my own home. The purpose of this survey is to
enhance my understanding of residential security while providing
recommendations to improve the safety of living spaces.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

The survey revealed several security concerns, including inadequate


exterior door locks and insufficient lighting. Recommendations include
upgrading locks, installing motion-activated lighting, and implementing
security awareness practices.

METHODOLOGY:

The survey involved on-site ocular inspection of my home. A


comprehensive checklist was used to evaluate exterior and interior security
measures, and interviews were conducted to assess security practices.

FINDINGS:

1. EXTERIOR SECURITY:

• The home had basic deadbolt locks on its main door, but the
back door located in the kitchen had weak locks that could be
easily compromised.
• Inadequate exterior lighting was observed making them
susceptible to unauthorized access.

2. INTERIOR SECURITY:

• Alarm systems were present, providing an additional layer of


security.
• The home had no safes to secure valuable belongings.
• Locks on interior doors were found to be in good working
condition

3. SECURITY MEASURES IN USE:

• The home used deadbolts on exterior doors.


• The home had functioning window locks, leaving the rest
vulnerable.
• Security cameras were not present in the surveyed home.

4. VULNERABILITIES:

• Weak door locks and insufficient lighting were identified as


significant vulnerabilities.
• Lack of security cameras made it difficult to deter or document
potential intruders.
• Absence of safes could lead to theft of valuable possessions.

RECOMMENDATIONS:

Based on the survey findings, the following recommendations are


provided:

• Upgrade exterior door locks to high-security deadbolts.


• Install motion-activated outdoor lighting to deter intruders.
• Consider investing in security cameras for added surveillance.
• Encourage the use of window locks and reinforce awareness of their
importance.
• Advise homeowners to install safes for valuable items.
• Educate residents on security best practices, including locking doors
and windows when leaving home.

CONCLUSION:

In summary, the security survey highlights both strengths and weaknesses


in the homes of ____. Enhancing security measures is crucial to reducing
vulnerabilities and ensuring their safety. By implementing the
recommended measures and practicing good security habits, the
homeowners can better protect their homes.
