Emilio Aguinaldo 1899-1901


Emilio Aguinaldo (1899-1901): He was the
first president of the Philippines, serving from
1899 to 1901. Aguinaldo was a revolutionary
leader and played a significant role in the
country's fight for independence against
Spain. After the Philippine Revolution, he
declared the country's independence from
Spain and became the first President of the
First Philippine Republic. However, he was
captured by the Americans in 1901, and the
Philippine-American War ensued.
1935-1944 Manuel L. Quezon
Manuel L. Quezon (1935-1944): Quezon was
the second president of the Philippines and
served from 1935 until his death in 1944. He
played a crucial role in the country's transition
from a Commonwealth to a Republic. Quezon
is also remembered for his efforts to promote
Filipino culture, language, and education.

Jose P. Laurel 1943-1945


Jose P. Laurel (1943-1945): Laurel served as
President of the Philippines during the
Japanese occupation from 1943 to 1945. His
presidency was controversial as he
collaborated with the Japanese authorities, and
his government was not recognized by the
Allied powers.

Sergio Osmeña 1944-1946

Sergio Osmeña (1944-1946): Osmeña


succeeded Quezon as President in 1944 and
served until 1946. During his presidency, he
helped rebuild the country after World War II
and laid the groundwork for the country's post-
war economic growth.

1946-1948 Manuel Roxas


Manuel Roxas (1946-1948): Roxas was the first
President of the independent Republic of the
Philippines, serving from 1946 until his death in
1948. He was instrumental in securing
Philippine independence from the United
States and focused on post-war reconstruction
and economic development.

Elpidio Quirino 1948-1953

Elpidio Quirino (1948-1953): Quirino


succeeded Roxas as President and served
from 1948 to 1953. His presidency was
marked by efforts to reform the government,
including land reform and social welfare
programs.

Ramon Magsaysay 1953-1957

Ramon Magsaysay (1953-1957): Magsaysay


was a popular President who served from
1953 to 1957. He was known for his anti-
corruption and pro-democracy stance and
was instrumental in fighting communist
insurgency in the country.

1957-1961 Carlos P. Garcia


Carlos P. Garcia (1957-1961): Garcia was the
eighth President of the Philippines, serving
from 1957 to 1961. During his presidency, he
focused on promoting Filipino values and
culture, and his economic policies emphasized
nationalism and self-reliance.

Diosdado Macapagal 1961-1965

Diosdado Macapagal (1961-1965): Macapagal


succeeded Garcia as President and served
from 1961 to 1965. He was known for his land
reform and economic policies, including the
devaluation of the Philippine peso.

Ferdinand Marcos 1965-1986


Ferdinand Marcos (1965-1986): Marcos was the
longest-serving President of the Philippines,
serving from 1965 until his ouster in 1986. His
presidency was marked by widespread
corruption, human rights violations, and the
imposition of martial law in 1972. One of
Marcos's earliest initiatives upon becoming
president was to significantly expand the
Philippine military. In an unprecedented move,
Marcos chose to concurrently serve as his own
defense secretary, allowing him to have a direct
hand in running the military.
1986-1992 Corazon Aquino
Corazon Aquino (1986-1992): Aquino was the
first female President of the Philippines and
served from 1986 to 1992. She came to power
after the People Power Revolution ousted
Marcos and played a significant role in restoring
democracy and human rights in the country.

Fidel Ramos 1992-1998


Fidel Ramos (1992-1998): Ramos served as
President from 1992 to 1998 and focused on
economic reforms and infrastructure
development. He also played a role in peace
negotiations with various insurgent groups in
the country.

Joseph Estrada 1998-2001


Joseph Estrada (1998-2001): Estrada served as
the 13th President of the Philippines from 1998
to 2001. Estrada, also known as Erap, was a
popular actor before entering politics. His
presidency was marked by various economic and
social programs, but it was marred by allegations
of corruption, which led to his downfall. He was
the first Philippine president to be impeached by
the House of Representatives and was
subsequently convicted by the Senate for bribery
and corruption charges.

2001-2010 Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo


Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (2001-2010): She
assumed office on January 20, 2001, succeeding
Joseph Estrada as President. Arroyo served as
President from 2001 to 2010, completing the
remaining term of Estrada and winning her
own term in the 2004 Presidential election. Her
presidency was marked by various economic
and social reforms, including the
implementation of the expanded value-added
tax, the promotion of the Business Process
Outsourcing (BPO) industry, and the expansion
of the country's health insurance program.
However, her administration was also marred
by allegations of corruption, election fraud, and
human rights abuses. Arroyo was arrested and
detained after her presidency due to corruption
charges but was later acquitted in 2016.

Benigno Aquino III 2010-2016


Benigno Aquino III (2010-2016): He assumed
office on June 30, 2010, and served until June 30,
2016. Aquino was the son of former Philippine
Senator and President Corazon Aquino and the
assassinated opposition leader Benigno Aquino
Jr. During his presidency, he focused on anti-
corruption efforts, economic reform, and
improving the country's infrastructure. His
administration also introduced various social
programs, such as the Conditional Cash
Transfer Program, aimed at reducing poverty in
the country. However, his administration was
criticized for its slow response to natural
disasters, such as Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, and
its handling of various issues, such as the
Mamasapano clash in 2015.

2016-2022 Rodrigo Duterte


Rodrigo Duterte (2016-2022): Duterte is the
current President of the Philippines and has
been in office since 2016.He is known for his
controversial policies, including his war on
drugs, which has been criticized by human
rights groups for its alleged extrajudicial
killings. His presidency has also been marked
by his independent foreign policy and his
efforts to improve infrastructure and economic
growth in the country.

Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. 2022

Bongbong Marcos assumed the presidency of the


Philippines on June 30, 2022, succeeding Rodrigo
Duterte. He is the son of 10th President
Ferdinand Marcos and belongs to the prominent
and controversial Marcos family. His
administration oversaw the post-pandemic return
to normalcy with the gradual reopening of the
economy, the return of face-to-face and physical
classes, the removal of stringent travel
restrictions, and the lifting of the mask-wearing
mandate for outdoor and indoor settings.
However, rising inflation and shortage of the
country's food supply were major challenges
during the beginning of his presidency.
