MISTAKES TO
AVOID AS A
DESIGNER
SWIPE...
POOR TYPOGRAPHY
CHOICES
Typography plays a crucial role in
design. Choose fonts that are legible
and complement each other. Avoid
using more than two or three fonts in
a single design.

01
NO
PROOFREADING
Not proofreading your document is
another bad graphic design mistake
that you can make. Always check on
grammar and spelling in the content
PROOFREEDING
that you are adding to the piece.

02
CHOOSING THE WRONG
COLORS
Just like the fonts, choosing incorrect
or too many colors could also be a
mistake. Excessive use of colors can
also distract people. Let us take an
example of your brand logo. With so
many bright colors your brand logo
could look less clear and harder to
read.

03
OVERDESIGN
Overdesigning is a common mistake
made by beginner designers or
students who learn how to use
Photoshop, Illustrator, or a new design
technique, making them want to use
all the filters and tools these programs
give to them at the same time making
your design look saturated with filters,
effects, colors, and shapes.

04
DON’T USE A VISUAL
HIERARCHY
When designing a poster or any visual
asset you need to understand what's
message you want to transmit and
what's the most important
information, in graphic design we use
visual hierarchy to organize these
elements and make the viewer much
easier to understand the important
information and what order they
should read our design.

05
NOT SEEKING FEEDBACK
Feedback is essential for growth and
improvement. Share your designs with
peers, clients, or users to get
constructive criticism and make
necessary improvements.
