1. What is penicillin? How could it have helped prevent the deaths

of Harald and Astri Dahl?
Penicillin is the first ever made antibiotic (and was created by accident!) . It is
used to treat infections caused by bacteria. It does not work on viral infections.
Penicillin could have prevented Harald and Astri’s death by killing the bacteria
that threatened their life.
2. If you were Mrs Dahl would you have stayed in Wales or left and
gone back home to Norway? Why?
I Would have honestly went back to Norway too because taking care of seven
children on an unknown land can be very hard. Plus, if I were to go back to
Norway my family would have helped me with the kids.
3. Why did Harald Dahl want his children educated in English
schools?
In his opinion, English schools are the best in the world and of
course a parent would only want the best for their child/children.
4. What was the name of the first school Roald attended? Who ran
the school?
It is called Cumberland lodge and was run by two sisters : Mrs Corfield and
Miss tucker

Imagine you are a close friend of Harald Dahl’s wife Sofie. You are living in
Norway and have just received the news of Harald and Astri’s deaths. Write a
letter to Sofie to send her your deepest condolences on her tragic loss.

Dearest Sofie,

Im very sorry for your loss, Harald was such a great friend and such a good husband
for you.
And poor little Astri I can still hear her giggle while playing in the garden.
And remember the time Harald tried to make a wooden chair but then changed to a
chair everyone was laughing at how bizarre the table looked.
I miss the old days and im sure you miss those two angels more than anyone.
Again my deepest sympathy and I hope you’ll get better.
