1. “If I could get up to your nest, I’d roll your babies out!”
(Page 12)
This sentence was said by Rikki-Tikki, he was talking with
Darzee the tailorbird. Darzee was celebrating Nag’s death
by singing but Rikki-Tikki knew that Nagaina will sooner or
later come to kill him or hurt someone he cherishes for
revenge.

2. “I was not a day too soon!” (Page 13)

In this part, Rikki-Tikki was talking to himself. We can see

that he’s relieved since he had to run as fast as he could so
that he could kill and/or eat the baby snakes before the
skin like egg hatched to eliminate every single snake in the
garden

3. “Sit still, Teddy. You mustn’t move. Teddy, keep still.” (Page
14)
Teddy’s father whispered this to his son it was a warning
and a bit of advice at the same time to protect him from
Nagaina’s bite. The snake entered the family’s veranda and

“was coiled up on the matting by Teddy’s chair, within easy

striking distance of Teddy’s bare leg”

4. “Fight, widow!” (Page 15)

Rikki-Tikki said this to Nagaina to provoke her, technically a
widow is a woman who has lost her husband (he died) and
doesn’t marry again. So Rikki-Tikki called her to fight by
that name/word.

5. “It’s all over with Rikki Tikki! We must sing his death song!”
(Page 16)
Darzee said that after Rikki-Tikki got into the hole with
Nagaina. If a mongoose enters a snake’s territory then it’s
over for him, well that was what darzee thought but not so
long after Rikki-Tikki came out. That means that he has
killed the widow

6. “Here’s a dead Mongoose. Let’s have a funeral.” (Page 4)

chocked mongoose on the middle of a garden path

7. “Don’t be frightened Teddy that’s his way of making

friends.” (Page 4)
Teddy’s father said this to his son after Rikki-Tikki jumped
on the small boy’s shoulder.

8. “Hmm……. that is very sad—but I am a stranger here.” (Page

6)
Rikki-tikki answered darzee’s complain, one of the baby
birds fell out of the nest and so Nag ate him but since
Rikki-tikki just came into this bungalow he didn’t know who
nag was

Darzee’s wife screamed that out loud so that Nagaina would
hear her and chase after her, so that way Rikki-tikki would be
able to finish the snake’s eggs

12. “It must be the head”’ he said at last; “the head above the
hood. And, when I am once there, I must not let go.” (Page 11)
Rikki-tikki thought this to himself, he was actually trying a
good spot to bite Nag and finish him

Nag’s death and so he called him such a thing to grab the
