1. Explain the etymology of sociology.


- The etymology of sociology is the study of words, their origin and how their form and
meaning have changed over the time.

2. What is educational sociology? Explain.


- Educational sociology is the study of interaction of the individual and his cultural
environment including other individuals, several groups and pattern of behavior.
Educational sociology starts with the assumption that education is an activity which goes on
in society in turn determines the nature of education. It is the scientific study of how people
live in social group, especially including the study of education that is obtained by the living
in the social groups, and education that is needed by the members to live efficiently in social
groups.

3. Discuss the aims of educational sociology.


- The first aim of educational sociology is to acquire knowledge about school work and the
work of teachers in relation to society and social progress. Second, to study the effect of
social elements on the school. The social elements refer to diverse components that
constitute to form the society as a whole. Third, to acquire knowledge about the effects of
social elements on individual. Fourth, to construct a curriculum of education with full
understanding of the economic and cultural tendencies of society. Fifth, to gain knowledge
about the democratic ideologies. And the last one is to employ research techniques for
achieving the aims.
