ACTIVITY TITLE: Case Analysis
CASE STORY TITLE: The Children of Sitio Mabolon

Conflict Identification

In Sitio Mabolon, a number of issues still exist. First, there is the serious problem of
malnutrition, which affects 22 children and causes diseases like kwashiorkor and marasmus
because of loss of appetite. Second, the village has had little contact from NGOs and struggles to
obtain government social services. Thirdly, children who are left untreated are the outcome of
not receiving professional medical treatment. Last but not least, poverty is a major issue.
Residents who cannot purchase enough food rely on their gardens for survival, which frequently
leaves their diets deficient in important vitamins and minerals that are vital for optimum health.

Plan of Action
Overcoming the obstacles of Sitio Mabolon requires a complete plan. Providing wholesome
meals and putting in place community feeding initiatives are two ways to combat malnutrition.
Improving access to health care and social services provided by the government is essential. The
creation of alternate sources of income and the facilitation of financial resource access should be
the main goals of efforts to reduce poverty. Furthermore, it is crucial to promote community
empowerment by organizing regular get-togethers to pinpoint and resolve issues unique to the
requirements of the community. Sitio Mabolon can overcome its obstacles and create long-term,
sustainable solutions by implementing these steps.

Reflection

The challenges faced by Sitio Mabolon underscore the significance of addressing underlying
causes, like malnutrition, poverty, and inadequate access to vital services, rather than solely
focusing on superficial remedies. Additionally, engaging and empowering the community in the
development endeavors is crucial to tailor solutions according to their specific requirements and
preferences
