Everyone knows that skills and taste change over the years and so, from time to time, I like to revisit my
crochet works to give them a new improved look.
For today's free project I redesigned one of my first make - a little SNOWBIRD!
I decided to reshape the figure working head and body as one single piece and give this little cutie a new
hat!
So what do you think? Wouldn’t it be a cute Christmas gift or an adorable decor for your tree or fireplace
mantel?

YARN: Light (3) in White, Gray and Pink; Classic Cotton Thread in Black
MATERIALS: C2 - 2.75 mm Hook; Poly Filling; Two 6 mm Black Plastic Safety Eyes
ABBREVIATIONS: magic ring (mr), stitch (st), slip stitch (sl st), single crochet (sc),
INSTRUCTIONS: work in rounds (join with a sl st and ch 1 at the end of each round) unless otherwise
instructed.
1) 6 sc in a mr (6)
6) sc even (30)
16) working in both loops now, sc even (32); start stuffing the body firmly
29) *2 sc, 1 sc dec*, repeat ** around (18); finish stuffing the body firmly
31) sc dec around (6); F/O, close the hole and wave in end
3) sc even (6); F/O and leave a long tail for sewing the beak to the head between rnds #6-9.

10) flatten the wing and crochet through both layers now, 4 sc (4); F/O and leave a long tail of yarn to attach
the wing to the side of the body between rnds #16-21.
2) work 3 ch, then insert the hook into the 13th chain of the previous made series of chains, work a sl st, then
work 3 ch (6); F/O and cut the yarn. Trim the yarn ends, except the one to sew the legs to the body with.
Attach the legs to the bottom of the body between rounds #28-29, 7 sts apart.

5) *2 sc, 1 sc inc*, repeat ** around (16); F/O and leave a long string of yarn to attach the tail to the back of
the body between rnds #22-27.

12) 1 sc dec (1); F/O, cut the yarn and wave in end
1) count 14 sts from the 5th st of rnd #9, join the yarn in the next one st, work 5 sc (5); ch 1 and turn
5) join gray yarn in any one stitch of the last round of the hat and sc around; F/O, cut the yarn and wave in
end.
Wrap gray yarn around your index and middle fingers. Wrap until you get the desired amount of yarn.
Gently pull the yarn off of your fingers, wrap another piece around the center of the yarn ball.
Tie it tight to secure. Trim to form. Use the yarn ends to attach the pompon to the top of the hat.
