How has technology affected transportation? What is the significance of transportation

engineering to urban infrastructure?

Transportation is an essential part of the function of society, as movement in a

community creates progress. The countless technological advancements have also
made possible the progress of transportation. Moving from one place to another has
been made much faster and more convenient by technological advancements in this
field, for instance, the creation of transportation vessels such as cars, boats and planes,
and the strategic placement of roads and highways, and the management of traffic. In
all these, technologies play a major role. Transportation engineering, is essential to
urban areas and the infrastructures therein. This branch of engineering makes possible
the fast and easy access to these infrastructures, as well as make possible whatever
purposes these buildings might serve. The development of the transportation sector of a
country is correlated to other sectors such as economic, health, and business, as an
underdeveloped transportation sector will greatly affect these negatively. Moreover,
transportation engineering ensures that the infrastructures built are strategic and
studied, making sure it betters the state of the community.
