UNIT IV: EMPLOYMENT

BUSINESS COMMUNICATION: Talking about professional qualities, skills and experience

I. Learning Outcome:

This EXPO2 will enable you to carry out straightforward tasks related to skills,
which are your personal attributes that help you work toward your goals and
efficiently work with others. Although each profession requires people with
specific skills, talents and experience, every efficient employee should have
general professional qualities. These qualities can help you show employers that
you are a well-rounded individual. Those who are highly respected and admired in
their roles exude professionalism.

II. Task Description: Attending a job interview

Situation
You are looking for a job with many fringe benefits, you would probably want to
work for a big company with a wide range of additional benefits, such as health
insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off or you would probably want to work
for a small business such as sole proprietorships and general partnerships which
might not have the resources to offer as many benefits. Whatever type of company
you decide, think about your skills, job experience, studies, responsibilities and
questions you are going to be asked in the job interview.

 Job Advertisement:
 Choose your roles:
- Student “A”/ “B”): Interviewers (ask questions)
- Student “C”: Apply for a position (answer questions)

- Could you tell me about yourself and describe your background in brief?
- Why do you want to work Here?

 Number of participants: 2-3


 Date: Week 15
 Length of the conversation: 3 – 5 minutes
 Students cannot read during the exposition
 Try to use formal language and phrases taught in class
 PPT is required (your cover and script)
 Make sure you and your partner arrive in time

components and expectations for the EXPO2, which identifies the various
criteria relevant to the task and then explicitly states the possible levels of
achievement.
