PRACTICAL ACTIVITY A- Investing gas properties

Question:

Design an experiment to investigate the relationship between two gas properties (such as P and T,
V and T or P and V)

You will use the simulation from phet.colarado.edu

The two criteria which will be assessed are

1.Exploration
2. Analysis

Before starting the experiment:

• Read through the Exploration and Analysis criteria below first
• Read through the Gas Properties html guide that is sent to you.
• Exploration would require that you do some
o State your research question
o background research
o describe your methodology (including variables)
• Analysis would require that you
o Sufficient data is collected
o Accuracy is taken into consideration
o Data processing (graphs, uncertainties..)
o Graphs should be drawn using excel or logger pro (or any suitable software)
o Interpretation of results
• On the simulation, use width as an indication of the volume. (note that area of cross-section,
A, of the container does not change – so volume is Area x width of container)
