The National Institute of Fashion Technology is a pioneering institute and leader in

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), was set up in 1986 under the
Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, and is a Statutory Institute governed by the NIFT
Act 2006. Academic inclusivity has always been at the forefront in the expansion
plans of the institute. NIFT today has unfurled its wings throughout the expanse of
the country through its 19 professionally managed campuses. National Institute of
Fashion Technology provides a conducive environment to its students from different
parts of the country to achieve their highest potential through the programmes
offered. Since its very inception, the institute has provided a firm foundation in
fashion education in the domains of Design, Management and Technology to
proudly become synonymous with excellence in fashion education in India.

IMPORTANT
• All candidate may ensure their eligibility criteria as per Prospectus / Admissions
Guidelines before applying for seat allocation.
• Seat Allocation Portal Link : https://nift.admissions.nic.in
• All Candidates who have secured Common Merit Rank (CMR) after declaration
of Final Results are requested to go through the Guidelines CAREFULLY.
• All Candidates are advised to fill their choices for Course and Campus well
before the last date and time which is sacrosanct to avoid last minute rush and
non-submission of their Course & Campus preferences.
• Any candidate who does not fill the choices for Course and Campus will not be
considered for Seat Allocation for regular Seat Allocation Rounds.
• It is server-based system and no requests would be entertained after the lapse

of given date / time.
• All Candidates are advised that they should fill Maximum Number of Choices in
their OWN interest
• NIFT Varanasi also offers Bachelor of Design (Fashion Interiors), Bachelor of

Design (Fashion Design) and Bachelor of Design (Fashion Communication) from
the Academic Sessions – 2024. Fee for Varanasi Campus will be at par with
Panchkula Campus. Benefit of Domicile reservation to the candidates from
Uttar Pradesh is extended to NIFT Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) as per the
admissions guidelines mentioned at page no. 112 in NIFT Prospectus-2024.
• Candidates should regularly check their registered email (including spam

folder) and mobile phone for information / updates.
• The category selected by a candidate at the time of submitting the application

form will be final. Requests for any change of category will not be permitted at
any later stage of admission process. However, if a candidate who has selected
a reserved category i.e. SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PWD and has not submitted a
valid Category Certificate, he/she will be considered for open category seats
provided any benefit of relaxed age or income or cut offs has not been availed

by the candidate at any stage of the Admission Process. If any benefit has been
availed, the candidate’s application will be rejected.

• Candidates may refer to Video Guide available at https://www.nift.ac.in and

https://nift.admissions.nic.in before / at time of Registration for NIFT
Counselling / filling Seat Preferences
• The last date of withdrawal from Admission process 2024 for all candidates is
12th July, 2024 till 12.00 Midnight. Candidate withdrawing on or before 12th
July, 2024 (12.00 Midnight) will be refunded full fees paid less Registration Fee.
Candidates withdrawing after 12th July, 2024 (12.00 midnight) entire fee paid
will be forfeited and only Security Deposit will be refunded. All Withdrawal
request will be submitted through Admission Portal only. Offline requests or
request by e-mail will not be considered. Refund rules as given in the
prospectus summarized as below:

• As per the Admissions Guidelines, it is mandatory for the candidate who is a

Person with Disability to appear before Evaluation Committee of NIFT which
will assess the actual physical/psychological capability of a candidate as per
the specific requirements of the particular academic programme.
The academic programme will be allotted to the candidates only if found

suitable for the same by the Evaluation Committee of NIFT. Candidates who
do not appear before the Evaluation Committee of NIFT will NOT be called
for seat allocation. Assessment by the Evaluation Committee of NIFT will be
carried out prior to the seat allocation.

Online Registration Process
In this stage, all the qualified candidates as per eligibility criteria are required to register online from any
place convenient to them.
Candidates Registration
The candidate is required to enter Roll Number, Application Number, Name, Mother Name and Date of
Birth and will be authenticated with the result data provided by Board. After successful authentication,
candidate needs to choose a password to complete the remaining steps for registration. After successful
registration, candidate will use the roll number and chosen password for subsequent logins.
Sign-in
Candidate will use the Roll number and chosen password during registration for subsequent logins. After
successful login, candidate will be redirected to the home page to perform the remaining activities like
Application form submission and choice filling etc.
Multistep Application Form Submission

After submission of registration form, candidate will login to complete the remaining activities. Candidates’
profile information available Data like DOB, Father Name etc. information will be shown in read-only mode.
Candidate can modify his/her date of birth only. To complete the registration process, candidate will
provide other details like contact detail and qualification details etc.
Upload Required Document

During this step, candidates will upload required document. List of documents will be shown as per the
candidates’ credentials.
Email and Mobile Number Verification (Optional)

A separate link/button will be available in candidate's home page for verification of his/her email address
and mobile no. Candidate can verify his/her email address by sending the OTP.
Online Document Verification

Candidates, who are registered, uploaded documents and paid registration fee, Online document
verification will be carried out by reporting NIFT Campuses within the scheduled dates.
Document discrepancy removal

Candidate need to resubmit the document for which a discrepancy has been generated by Document
Verification Official at the time of document verification for completion of document verification process
by the Document Verification Official.
Choice Filling
After the document verification, candidates may submit their choices of Campus and programme in order
of their preference.
Choice Locking and Printing of Locked Choices

Locking of choice will be enabled as per schedule. Candidates should lock their choices only after they have
finalized them. In the absence of choice locking, Candidate’s choices will be locked by the system after
closing of choice filling schedule. After choice locking, candidate can download their locked choices.

Seat Allotment Result Publishing After Seat Allotment

In each round, seat allotment result will be published on the website. Candidate will login and see the
result. Candidate need to download “Provisional Allotment Letter”. Opening and closing rank will also be
published in the public portal.

Submit willingness
During this step, candidates will choose Float, Slide or Freeze willingness
Online Payment of Admission Fee

During this step, candidate will pay Admission Fee to confirm his/her allotted seat. In case he/she doesn’t
pay required fee within the time frame, his/her allotted seat will be cancelled and not allowed to
participate in the subsequent rounds of seat allocation except SPOT Round.
Seat Withdrawal
A candidate, whose allotted seat has been confirmed and want to cancel his/her allotted seat and seek the
refund of fee, will withdraw the allotted seat online during the specified period.
Vacancy due to Seat Rejection/Non-Payment of Fee/Withdrawal

Vacancies will be generated due to Seat Rejection/Non-payment of fee/Withdrawal.
2nd / 3rd and 4th Round of Counselling
Revision / modification in Application Form (Only for NRI Sponsored Seats)

If required, candidates can make the revision / modification in their application form. If a candidate opted
“NO” for “Do you want to apply for NRI Sponsored seats?” during registration, then he/she may change
from “NO” to “YES” but vice-versa is not allowed.
Choice Filling/Modifications
Candidates may fill/modify their choices of Campus and programme in order of their preference.
Choice Locking and Printing of Locked Choices

Candidates should lock their choices only after they have finalized them. In the absence of choice locking,
Candidate’s choices will be locked by the system after closing of choice filling schedule. After choice

Vacancies will be generated due to Seat Rejection/Non- Payment of Fee /Withdrawal.
Spot Round Counselling

After completion of 4th regular round, Spot Round of counselling will be carried out as per the following
process.
Registration for Spot Round Counselling

In this round, all the eligible candidates including absentees of the main counselling will also be eligible for
Spot Round of counselling. Candidates, who have completed their registration in 1st round, will not require
to register again. However, they will be required to complete the remaining activities.
Payment of Participation Fee

Participation Fee Payment of Spot Round will be by submitting online through EPG services. Payment of
Spot Round participation fee of Rs.5000/- will be mandatory for all the candidates, who will participate in
spot round of counselling. After paying the fee, such candidates will be eligible for choice filling.
Choice Filling & Locking

Choice filling and locking process will be same as main counselling.
Seat Allotment in Spot Round

During this step, Seat allocation will be carried out as per the rules. Seat will be allotted in the order of
merit.
Seat Allotment Result Publishing

Seat allotment result will be published on the website. Candidate will login and see the result. Candidate
need to download “Provisional Allotment Letter”. Opening and closing rank will also be published in the
public portal.

During this step, candidates, who have not paid the admission fee in any previous round, will pay required
fee to confirm the allotted seat. In case he/she doesn’t pay required fee within the time frame, his/her
allotted seat will be cancelled.
Physical Reporting at Finally Allotted Campus

All the candidates who have taken provisional admission by paying the Admission Fee in any round will
have to report finally at the Allotted Campus as per the schedule.

Candidates are required to refer to NIFT Prospectus – 2024 for eligibility criteria for various courses.

Choice Filling Rules

• All candidates who have successfully registered and after verification of documents are required to
submit their choices of Institute/campus and programs in order of their preference.
• System will show only valid choices based on the candidate’s candidature.
• Candidates can fill in as many numbers of choices in the order of preference as they wish to from
the list of available choices.
• Candidates are permitted, if they so desire, to change or re-order their choices, delete earlier
choices and add new choices any number of times until they lock their final choices.
• Candidates are advised to select maximum numbers of preferences from the available academic
programmes and Campuses to have a good chance to get a seat.
Choice Locking Rules
• ‘Lock Choice’ button will be enabled as per counselling schedule.
• Candidates should lock their choices only after they will have finalized them. This includes, re-
entering the password, confirming the locking etc. Candidate should follow all the steps carefully to
complete the locking procedure.
• After the choices are locked, candidates will not be able to change their choices. A printable version
of the choices along with the terms and conditions agreed by the candidate at the time of
registration is displayed once the choices are locked.

• If a candidate fails to lock his/her choices before a pre-announced deadline, his/her choices will
be locked automatically by the system.
Correction in Application Form (Only for NRI Sponsored Seats) in Round 2/3/4
If required, candidates can make the correction in their application form. If a candidate opted “NO” for “Do
you want to apply for NRI Sponsored seats ?” during registration, then he/she may change from “NO” to
“YES” but vice-versa is not allowed.
Online Fee Payment Rules
Admission Fee for UG, PG and UG (Lateral Entry)

If a candidate is allotted a seat first time in any round, then candidate will be required to pay the Admission
Fee otherwise his/her allotted seat will be cancelled. Admission fee for all category candidates and for UG,
PG, UG (Lateral Entry) courses will be as follows.

Willingness
• A candidate, who get a seat first time in any round, can choose the willingness from the following
list during the specified period.
o Floating (Yes- Upgradation): Implies the candidate’s willingness to be considered for all the
higher preferred choices across the Campuses for further rounds of seat allotment.
o Sliding (Yes- Upgradation within Campus ): Implies the candidate’s willingness to be
considered for all the higher preferred choices within the same Campus for further rounds
of seat allotment (applicable for B.Des.)
o Freezing (No-Upgradation): Implies the candidate’s willingness to accept and remain with
the programme and the Campus allotted to her/him.
Withdrawal Rules
• Only those candidates will be eligible for withdrawal, whose seat has been confirmed by paying
the Admission Fee.
• Withdrawal process will be carried out as per schedule.
• The fee shall be refunded through online by NIFT, HO within a specified period as per the refund
policy and Admissions Guidelines for Admissions – 2024 which will be published on the website.
Willingness Change Rules
• A candidate, who takes provisional admission and wants to change his/her willingness status, can
do so directly from web portal during the specified period only.
• Candidate has to login using their login credential and initiate online willingness change request.
They have to agree with online declaration that after willingness change, new seat will be allotted
as per change willingness.

• Candidate can change the willingness from “Float” to “Slide/freeze” or “Slide” to “Freeze” but vice
versa will not be allowed.
Spot Round of Counselling
Eligibility Criteria
• All the eligible candidates including absentees of previous rounds of counselling will be allowed to
participate in Spot Round of counselling, except those, who became ineligible during document
verification due to cut off marks or any other valid reasons, age etc..
Non-eligibility Criteria
• Those candidates who became ineligible during registration or document verifications process of
main counselling.
Vacancy Position
• The vacancies would include those available in all NIFT Campuses after 4th round of Admission Fee
Payment and withdrawal.
Registration Process Rules
• Online Registration process will be similar to the earlier registration. Candidates who desire to
participate in the Spot Round should logged-in to portal and complete the registration process.
Spot Round Participation Fee
• All those candidates, who want to participate in spot round, will have to pay the participation /
registration of Rs. 5000/-. -.
Document Verification Rules
• Document verifications rules will be same as round 1. Document verification process will be
operational only for new candidates.
Spot Round Choice Filling & Locking
• Only those candidates, who will have paid the participation fee and documents have been verified,
will be allowed to fill the choices.
• All the choices will be shown to the candidate irrespective whether seat is available or not
because during processing few virtual vacancies may be arisen.
• For all provisionally admitted candidates, who have already paid the admission fee, if they desired
to participate in the Spot Round then during choice filling, the provisionally admitted campus &
program where he/she has already completed admission will not be appear in the list of available
choices. After locking, the admitted choice will automatically be added in the last position of newly
filled choices.
• ‘Lock Choice’ button will be enabled as per counselling schedule.
• If candidates fail to explicitly lock their choices by last date & time, their last saved choices will be
automatically locked by system after this deadline.
• All the features supporting for choice filling will be same as main counselling choice filling process.
Seat Allotment
• Choices of all such candidates who have completed all the steps will be processed as per rules.
• Last allotted choice of all admitted candidates of previous rounds, who have not participated in the
Spot Round of counselling, will also be processed for category upgradation only.
• Conversion of Seat will be applicable in the Spot Round of seat allotment as per conversion rules /
Admissions Guidelines.

Seat Conversion Rules
• First Seat Allotment will be process to all eligible candidates as per merit.
• Then conversion of PwD seats into respective parent category i.e.
o Open (PwD) --> Open
o EWS(PwD) --> EWS
o OBC (NCL) (PwD) --> OBC (NCL)
o SC (PwD) --> SC
o ST (PwD) --> ST and re-allotment
• Then conversion of EWS=>Open, OBC (NCL) => Open at least after completion of two rounds of
seat allocation and re-allotment.
• After doing the all types of conversions (as above), If there are any vacant seats available in Open
(PwD), EWS(PwD), OBC (NCL) (PwD), SC(PwD), ST(PwD), EWS and OBC categories then conversion
rules will be followed again and this process will be followed until the seats in Open (PwD),
EWS(PwD), OBC (NCL) (PwD), SC(PwD), ST(PwD), EWS and OBC categories become ‘0’.
• State Domicile Seats (Open, OBC (NCL), SC & ST) to AI Seats (Open, OBC (NCL), SC & ST) in the
respective category.
• There will be no conversion of SC & ST seats within the same quota.
• There will be no conversion of NRI Sponsored seats.
• Finally, vacancy may exist only in All India Open, SC, ST & NRI Sponsored categories.
Fee
Seat allotted candidates, who have not paid the admission fee in any previous round of counselling, will pay
the admission fee to confirm their allotted seat. In case they do not pay the admission fee within the time
frame, their allotted seat will be cancelled.
Physical Reporting at Finally Allotted Campus

All the candidates who have taken provisional admission by paying the Admission Fee in any round will
have to report finally at the Allotted campus as per the schedule.
Password Policy
• Password must be 8 to 13 characters long.
• Password must have at least one Upper case, one lower case alphabet and one numeric value and
at least one special characters!@#$%^&*-
• New Password cannot be identical to any of the previous three passwords.
• The candidate will join the Orientation Programme at the allotted

Campus as per the details mentioned on the “Provisional Admission
Letter” with the original documents along with self-attested copy
which were uploaded to the portal at the time of the seat allocation
process for physical verification of the documents on 31st July, 2024.

ANNEXURE- IV
UNDERTAKING FOR REFUND OF FEE
1. I confirm and state that the certificates furnished by me are true and correct to the best of my
knowledge. No part of it is false or fabricated and nothing has been concealed. I hereby undertake that
if any certificate submitted by me is found to be false/fabricated or not conforming to the stipulated
standards mentioned in the Admission Guidelines, my admission will be cancelled without any notice
and the fee paid by me will be forfeited.
2. I confirm and state that I have undergone the admission formalities as laid down in the Prospectus-2024
of NIFT. I understand that if I fail to submit the proof of eligibility by the stipulated date, my admission
will be automatically cancelled.
3. The refund against withdrawal of seat will be governed as under:
