TOPIC: HOW TO MAKE YOUR MARRIAGE WORK

Text: Genesis 2:21-25

Memory Verse: Gen 2:23 “And Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:
she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

AIM: To teach believers how to mirror Christ in their marriages.

Introduction: Marriage in God’s idea. It is supposed to mirror the love of Christ for the church.
There are ways to make any marriage successful. It may take a lot of work but with God, it is
possible. For, the singles, this is the time to plan for a successful marriage.

 God ordained marriage. Seek His counsel continually. Gen. 2:21-23, Matthew 19:5, 6
 Don’t take each other for granted even several years after the marriage. 1 Peter 4:8.
 Guard your thoughts. Proverbs 23:7; Exodus 20:17; Philippians 4:8
 Never go to bed angry with one another. Eph. 4:26
 Keep Christ in the centre of your home; Pray together. Ps. 127:1, Prov. 3:6, Matt. 26:41
 Agree that divorce is not the answer. Matt. 19:6, 9; Rom. 7:2.
 Keep the family circle tightly close. Prov. 31:11, 12.
 Be clean, modest, orderly, and dutiful. 1Tim. 2:9; Prov. 31:13, 15, 27.
 Determine to speak softly and kindly. Proverbs 15:1, Ecclesiastes 9:9, 1 Corinthians 13:1.
 Talk things over freely with one another in love. Prov. 15:1; 1 Cor. 13:4; Prov. 26:12.

Conclusion
A bad boy/girl does not become a good man/woman overnight and vice-versa. Practice these
qualities and as you grow, your marriage will represent Christ.

marriage honour Christ?
