RATIONALE/BACKGROUND

Directions: Please answer in not more than 200 words. This part must be research-based
or data-driven. Include the learning insights gained from the training program that are
applicable in achieving your goals.

Parental involvement in school is widely regarded as an important factor in

promoting student performance (Henderson & Mapp, 2002). As schools and
educators work to increase parental involvement, giving parents access to their
child's academic performance including grades, has emerged as a potential
technique. In recent years, there has been a greater emphasis on increasing
parental involvement in education as a way to enhance student performance.
However, several reasons limit parents' involvement in their child's education,
such as (a) Work Obligations - busy work schedules, irregular hours, or numerous
jobs might leave parents with little time or energy to participate in school events or
engage in their child's learning at home. (b) Cultural Differences - cultural norms
regarding the role of parents in education, expectations around parent-teacher
interactions, or views on academic achievement may vary, impacting parental
involvement, (c) Cultural Differences - Cultural norms surrounding the role of
parents in school, expectations around parent-teacher interactions, or opinions on
academic achievement may vary, influencing parental participation, (d) Parental
Stress or Mental Health concerns - Parents struggling with personal difficulties,
mental health concerns, or socioeconomic hardships may find it difficult to prioritize
their child's education or may lack the emotional ability to engage properly, (e)
Negative School Experiences - Parents who had unpleasant experiences with their
own education or who consider the school atmosphere as unwelcoming or
judgmental, may be unwilling to participate in school activities or engage with
teachers, (f) Family Dynamics – factors like family structure, dynamics, or
responsibilities, such as single-parent households, large families, or caregiving
activities for other family members, might effect parents' ability to participate in
their child's education and (g) Lack of Resources or Support: Parents may be
discouraged from actively participating in their child's education if they have limited
access to community programs, support services, or resources. In the recent e-
SAT results conducted to teachers at San Francisco Elementary School,
Feedbacking and Parents Involvement are one of the indicators which needed
priority for development. In line with this, the School Planning Team deliberately
think of a project or program to address these indicators that need to be
developed.
Studies have consistently shown that when parents are actively involved in
their child's education, students tend to perform better academically, have
improved attendance, and exhibit positive attitudes towards learning (Desforges &
Abouchaar, 2003). Furthermore, technological advancements have provided new
opportunities for schools to enhance communication with parents and involve them
more effectively in their child's education (Van Voorhis, Maier, Epstein, & Lloyd,
2013).
SP Team come up the with the Project i-ACCESS (Interactive ACcess on
Child’s Evaluation and Scholastic Status), a project granting parents an access to
view their child's grades and academic performance. The project will also
investigates its potential impact on parental involvement, student motivation, and
academic achievement.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION, METHODS, AND DESIGN

Directions: Please answer in not more than 200 words. State the main goal of the project,
the methodology to be employed (e.g. training, research, coaching and mentoring, or
thematic activities, etc.), the primary stakeholders, project duration, and other relevant
information. You could also think of it through the 5Ws and 1H (What, Who, When, Where,
Why, How).

I-ACCESS is a project to enhance parental engagement in their child’s

education and provides parents access to their child's school performance.
The main goal of the project is to provide a user-friendly online platform
where parents can securely access their child's grades in real-time. Parents will
receive login credentials to access the platform, which will display their child's
grades, assignments, and progress reports.
The methodology employed will include the development of the online
platform in collaboration with School ICT Team. Additionally, training sessions will
be conducted for parents on how to navigate and interpret the platform effectively.
Ongoing support and assistance will be provided to ensure parents are
comfortable using the platform.
The primary stakeholders of the project include parents, students, teachers,
school head and stakeholders. Each will play a crucial role in the successful
implementation and utilization of the online platform.
The project is expected to be implemented over a period of two grading
periods, beginning in First Quarter (July-September) and concluding in Second
Quarter (October-November). During this time, the online platform will be
developed, training sessions for parents will be conducted, and the platform will be
rolled out to parents.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with the school head and
teaching staff to ensure alignment with existing policies and procedures. Data
security and privacy will be prioritized throughout the development and
implementation process to safeguard sensitive student information. Additionally,
regular monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to track platform usage and
gather feedback from users, allowing for adjustments and improvements as
needed.
GOAL/S, OBJECTIVES, AND OUTCOMES

Note: The Goal is broad and must be long-term. This will be our target where we direct all
our efforts towards success.
The Objectives are specific statements anchored from the Goal. The objectives should be
SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic/Relevant, Time-bound).
The Outcomes should be presented using data presentation, data analysis, and data
interpretation.
