Expressive Styles:
Exploring fashion personas through
visual communication
introduction
In this project, we're diving into fashion to
explore how different people express
themselves through their clothes. We're
calling it "Expressive Styles." We'll look at five
different Kibbe body types and the kinds of
clothes they like to wear, like what fabrics,
colors, and patterns they prefer. Then, we'll
see how to show off these styles visually,
using clothes, accessories, and how they're
put together. It's all about helping people
understand their own style and how they
can use clothes to express themselves.

KIBBE BODY
TYPES
The kibbe body type system
focuses on an axis of yin (curved,
soft) versus yang (angular,
structured). The 5 main types along
the scale are: dramatic, natural,
classic, gamine, and romantic.

02/09
yin &
yan
The body, face, and look are composed of a
combination of attributes that can either be
classified as yin (soft) or yang (structured).
YIN (soft/round): The concept of yin refers to soft edges, rounded
shapes, hourglass figures, smooth lines, and flowing silhouettes.

YANG (sharp/vertical): The concept of yang refers to angular structures,

harsh lines, elongated silhouettes, geometric shapes like rectangles and
triangles, and verticality.
04/09
romantic
Keep your shapes rounded, soft edged.
Always maintain hourglass figure.
Outline should be soft.
Flowy silhouettes ( A silhouette is the
image of a person represented as a solid
shape of a single colour, usually black,
with its edges matching the outline of the
subject)
Details- Soft and feminine

03/09
romantic
Avoid all straight lines, sharp edges or
geometrics.
Avoid vertical lines that will hide the
waist.

03/09
romantic
Sparkle / Ornate details work wonders.

03/09
romantic
Oversized bows, ruffles, and delicate
laces works as long as they are womenly
not girlish.

IMPACT
What makes our project special is how we approach visual
communication in fashion in a complete way. While other
resources might talk about Kibbe body types and fashion
tips, we go further by offering detailed visual guides
customized for each type. These guides include carefully
crafted illustrations and helpful educational materials that
explain how clothes, accessories, and styling techniques
tell a visual story. We focus on things like shapes, colors,
and textures to help people feel confident and true to
themselves through their fashion choices. What sets us
apart is our blend of creativity, diversity, and accessibility,
which brings a fresh perspective to expressing yourself
through fashion. It's this unique combination that you
won't easily find elsewhere on the internet.

CONCLUSION
This project, "Expressive Styles," aims to make a big
difference. It helps people feel good about themselves by
showing them how to express who they are through clothes.
By teaching about different body types and fashion, it
encourages everyone to embrace their own style. Through
simple and clear visuals, it makes learning easy and fun.
People will learn how to pick clothes that make them feel
confident and comfortable. By celebrating diversity and
creativity, the project helps everyone feel included and
valued. It shows that there's no one-size-fits-all when it
comes to fashion, and that's okay! Ultimately, it's about
empowering individuals to be themselves and express their
uniqueness. This project is not just about clothes; it's about
confidence, self-expression, and feeling good about who you
are.
