WHO WE ARE

FIOCRUZ

Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) is a national institution for research and development in biological

sciences, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and linked to the Ministry of Health. Created in 1900

by the renowned public health physician Oswaldo Cruz, it is the most important institution of science and

technology in health in Latin America, being a reference in research in the field of public health.

TECHNICAL-SCIENTIFIC UNITS BELONGING TO FIOCRUZ

Fiocruz has 21 technical-scientific units, 11 of which are located in Rio de Janeiro, 10 located in other

Brazilian states and one unit in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique.

The technical-scientific units located in Rio de Janeiro are the following:

 Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals (Bio-Manguinhos);

  Laboratory Animal Breeding Center (CECAL);

 Institute of Scientific and Technological Communication and Information in Health (ICICT);

 House of Oswaldo Cruz (COC);

 Sérgio Arouca National School of Public Health (ENSP)

 Polytechnic School of Health Joaquim Venâncio (EPSJV);

 Institute of Pharmaceutical Technology (Farmanguinhos);

 Fernandes Figueira Institute (IFF);

 Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INI);

 National Institute of Control and Quality in Health (INCQS);

 Oswaldo Cruz Institute (IOC).

PHARMABRAZIL
We are the successor of the first Brazilian multinational pharmaceutical industry of the 1940s, which

became the pioneering Brazilian company in capturing technology for highly complex drugs, in addition to

distributing and marketing medicines for human use on a large scale, permanently engaged in strengthening

Collective Health.

We are one of the creators of the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Health (MS) of

Brazil and we are aware of the needs for new technologies to meet the current demands of the Brazilian

Government, with a focus on curing numerous diseases.

OUR OPERATIONS

Creation of a NETWORK OF CORRESPONDENTS in places such as New York, Israel and Hong Kong,

committed to attracting strategic partners to the Medicines Supply Chain.

Formation of a CONSORTIUM with a unit of the MINISTRY OF HEALTH's industrial complex, enabling

prospecting for new technologies and low-cost supply.

ASSOCIATES AND SUPPORTERS

The consortium with the INSTITUTO VITAL BRAZIL, another unit of the Industrial Complex of the

Ministry of Health, enhanced the realization of our achievements for the benefit of the Brazilian population

assisted by the SUS, bringing cutting-edge technology for the development of APIs and medicines.
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is an international organization specializing in health.

Created in 1902, it is the oldest international health agency in the world. The Pan American Health

Organization is an international public health organization with more than a century of experience dedicated

to improving health conditions in the countries of the Americas. Integration with the United Nations happens

when the entity becomes the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization.

PAHO/WHO is also part of the systems of the Organization of American States (OAS) and the United

Nations (UN).
