STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES AT DIBBA MOUNTAIN PARK RESORT

Bouncing Castle

2. Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to establish guidelines for the safe setup, operation, and
maintenance of the bouncing castle. It ensures participant safety and efficient
management.

3. Setup and Takedown

Hazards during Setup and Takedown

Heavy Lifting:

Those handling the bouncing castle could injure their backs.

Likelihood: Likely

Level of Harm: Moderate injury

Action:

At least two people will collect, lift, or move the bouncing castle.

Use a trolley wherever possible.

Provide guidance on correct lifting procedures.

Electric Power Cable:

Tripping hazard for others setting up stalls.

Likelihood: Likely

Level of Harm: Minor injury

Action:

Secure the power cable to the ground immediately after laying it down.

Do not remove tape until winding up the cable.

Damage to Electric Cable:

Risk of electrocution.

Likelihood: Very likely

Level of Harm: Serious injury

Action:

Unroll the electric cable and check its full length, including plugs and sockets.

Ensure it’s plugged into a power supply with a trip switch or use the provided power
breaker.

4. Operation

Supervision

At least two adults will supervise the bouncing castle at all times.

Hazards during Use:

Jumping Over Sides:

Adults and older children could jump over the castle sides.

The seams could split, causing rapid deflation and injury.

Inadequate Supervision:

Lack of supervision may lead to unsafe behavior.

Likelihood: Not likely

Level of Harm: Serious injury

Action:

Supervise actively to prevent jumping over the sides.

Monitor the castle’s condition during use.

5. Maintenance

Drying the Bouncing Castle

If wet, dry the bouncing castle before storage.

Hazards during Storage:

Slippery Surface:

Rolling up a wet castle can cause injuries.

Likelihood: Likely

Level of Harm: Moderate injury

Action:

Dry the castle if possible before storing it.

Involve at least three people in putting away and lifting the wet castle.
