1.Sean and The Birthday Cake
Sean likes food. He likes fruit and vegetables. He likes bread and
cakes. He likes fish and dairy products. He likes meat. He eats
everything!
One day he goes to a party. It is a birthday party for his friend Leo.
He enjoys the party with his friends. They dance and have fun.
At the end of the night, Leo’s mother comes with a cake.
Everyone is very happy. They like sweet cakes. Sean is also happy.
He likes food!
Leo’s mother slices the cake and gives every kid a piece of cake.
Sean is the first one that gets a piece. At first, he is very happy,
but after a few moments, he turns blue. He runs outside.
When he returns, everybody is very surprised. His friend Leo asks,
“Sean, is everything alright? You don’t behave like yourself!”
Sean is surprised. “Why, Leo? Why do you say that?”
“Well,” Leo answers, “you usually love food very much! You don’t
miss food!”
Sean smiles and says, “Yes, Leo, I love food. But that cake is not
food!”

Sean yemek yemeyi sever. Meyve ve sebzeleri sever. Ekmek ve
kekleri sever. Balık ve süt ürünlerini sever. Et sever. Her şeyi
yemeyi sever!
Bir gün bir partiye gider. Arkadaşı Leo için bir doğum günü
partisidir. Arkadaşlarıyla birlikte partinin tadını çıkarır. Dans
ederler ve çok eğlenirler.
Gecenin sonunda, Leo’nun annesi pasta ile gelir. Herkes çok
mutludur. Şekerli pastayı severler. Sean de mutludur. Yemek
yemeyi sever!
Leo’nun annesi pastayı dilimler ve her çocuğa bir dilim pasta verir.
Sean dilimi alan ilk kişidir. Başta mutludur ama birkaç dakika sonra
mavi renge döner. Dışarı koşar.
Geri döndüğünde herkes şaşkındır. Arkadaşı Leo sorar, “Sean, her
şey yolunda mı? Kendin gibi davranmıyorsun!”
Sean şaşırmıştır. “Niçin, Leo? Neden bunu söylüyorsun?”
“Eh,” diye Leo cevap verir, “Sen genelde yemek yemeyi çok
seversin! Yemeklerden kaçmazsın!”
Sean güler ve der ki, “Evet, Leo, Yemek yemeyi severim. Fakat
pasta, yemek değil!”

Diana is at the airport. She waits for her flight. Her flight is to
Amsterdam, and it is 4 hours away. Diana walks around the
airport and looks at the shops. She has a nice time.
After an hour she wants to visit the bathroom. She searches for it,
but she doesn’t find it.
“Where is the bathroom?” she asks herself.
She looks and looks but can’t find it, then she starts asking people
where it is and asks, “Sir, sorry buy do you know the directions for
the lady’s bathroom?”
Man: “You mean the restroom, right?”
Diana: “No, I mean the bathroom.”
Man: “Well, the restroom is over there.” He says and walks away.
Diana doesn’t understand. She asks a lady: “Excuse me madam,
could you please tell me where is the bathroom?”
“zhe restroom is over there,” the lady answers and walks away.
Diana is confused. “What’s their problem? I need to use the
bathroom and they send me to rest?! I don’t need a restroom, I
need the bathroom!”
After a while Diana gives up. She feels tired after all these walking
and asking, decides that the man and the woman might be right
and that she needs to rest.
She walks to the restroom. Now she is surprised. She realizes the
restroom is actually the name for a public bathroom!

Diana havalimanındadır. Uçağını bekler. Uçağı Amserdam’adır ve
4 saat sonradır. Diana havalimanı etrafında dolaşır ve alışveriş
mağazalarına bakar. Güzel zaman geçirir.
Bir saat sonra tuvaleti ziyaret etmek ister. Onu arar fakat bulamaz.
“Tuvalet nerede?” diye kendi kendine sorar.
Bakar ve bakar fakat bulamaz. Nerede olduğunu insanlara
sormaya başlar.
Diana: “Affedersiniz beyefendi, bana tuvaletin nerede olduğunu
söyleyebilir misiniz lütfen?”
Adam: “Dinlenme odası mı demek istiyorsunuz?”
Diana: “Hayır, tuvalet demek istiyorum.”
Adam: “Hım, dinlenme odası orada,” der ve uzaklaşır.
Diana anlamaz. Bir kadına sorar: “Özür dilerim hanımefendi,
tuvaletin nerede olduğunu söyleyebilir misiniz?”
“Dinlenme odası orada,” diye cevap verir kadın ve uzaklaşır.
Diana’nın kafası karışır. “Onların sorunu ne? Tuvaleti kullanmaya
ihtiyacım var ve onlar beni dinlenmeye gönderiyorlar! Dinlenme
odasına ihtiyacım yok, tuvalete ihtiyacım var!”
 Her parents complain, her sister complains, the neighbors
Bir süre sonra Diana vazgeçer. Tüm bu yürüyüşten ve sorgudan complain. Even the cat complains!
dolayı yorgun hisseder. Belki de onlar haklıdır ve dinlenmeye
ihtiyacı vardır. “Ok, ok!” Kate says, “I will be a good girl. I will do it more quietly.”

Dinlenme odasına girer. Şimdi şaşkındır. Dinlenme odasının But this doesn’t help much. No one can work, no one can rest,
aslında umumi tuvalet olduğunu fark eder! and no one can sleep.

3.The Four Smart Students
One night four college students were out partying late night and
didn’t study for the test which was scheduled for the next day. In
the morning, they thought of a plan.
They made themselves look dirty with grease and dirt.
Then they went to the Dean and said they had gone out to a
wedding last night and on their way back the tire of their car burst
and they had to push the car all the way back. So they were in no
condition to take the test.
The Dean thought for a minute and said they can have the re-test
after 3 days. They thanked him and said they will be ready by that
time.
On the third day, they appeared before the Dean. The Dean said
that as this was a Special Condition Test, all four were required to
sit in separate classrooms for the test. They all agreed as they had
prepared well in the last 3 days.
One day Kate comes home and sees her parents and her sister in
the living room. She sees new things: a guitar, a trumpet, and a
piano. Kate is very surprised! “Wow!” she says, “What is this?”
“Well,” her father answers, “we see that we can’t beat you, so we
decide to join you!”
Kate’in Baterisi
Kate’in yeni bir bateri seti vardır. Bateri çalmayı sever. Her zaman
bateri çalma pratiği yapar.
Ailesi ona, “Kate, bateri sevdiğin için mutluyuz fakat her zaman
bateri çalamazsın. Dairede başka insanlar var. Binada başka
insanlar var. Mahallede başka insanlar var. Ve hepsi ara sıra
uyumak ister!”
Kate onları dinler. Anladığını söyler fakat bunu yapmayı bırakmaz.
Her zaman bateri çalma pratiği yapar!
Ailesi şikâyet eder, kız kardeşi şikayet eder, komşular şikayet eder.
Kedi bile şikayet eder!

- Dört Akıllı Öğrenci
Bir gece, dört üniversite öğrencisi gece geç saatlerde parti
veriyorlardı ve ertesi gün yapılması planlanan sınava çalışmadılar.
Sabah bir plan düşündüler.
Yağ ve kirle kendilerini kirli gösteriyorlardı.
Sonra dekana gittiler ve dün gece bir düğüne gittiklerini ve geri
dönerken arabalarının lastiğinin patladığını ve arabayı sonuna
kadar itmek zorunda kaldıklarını söylediler. Yani sınava girecek
durumda değillerdi.
Dekan bir dakika düşündü ve 3 gün sonra tekrar test
yapabileceklerini söyledi. Teşekkür ettiler ve o zamana kadar hazır
olacaklarını söylediler.
“Tamam, tamam!” der Kate, “Uslu bir kız olacağım. Bunu daha
sessiz yapacağım.”
Ama bu da pek işe yaramaz. Hiç kimse çalışamaz, hiç kimse
dinlenemez ve hiç kimse uyuyamaz.
Bir gün Kate eve gelir ve ailesini ve kız kardeşini oturma odasında
görür. Yeni şeyler görür: gitar, trompet ve piyano. Kate çok şaşırır!
“Vay!” der, “Bu nedir?”
“Peki” diye cevap verir babası, “Gördük ki seninle baş
edemeyeceğiz, o yüzden sana katılmaya karar verdik!”

Üçüncü gün dekanın huzuruna çıktılar. Dekan, bunun bir Özel

Durum Testi olduğu için, dördünün de test için ayrı sınıflarda
oturması gerektiğini söyledi. Son 3 günde iyi hazırlandıkları için
hepsi hemfikirdi.

4.Kate’s Drums

Kate has a new set of drums. She likes playing the drums. She
practices playing the drums all the time.

Her parents tell her, “Kate, we are happy that you like the drums,
but you can’t play the drums all the time. There are other people
on the floor, in the building and neighbourhood. There are other
people in the neighborhood. And they all want to sleep
sometimes!

Kate listens to them. She says she understands, but she doesn’t
stop doing it. She practices playing the drums all the time!
