NEWS RELEASE

McGILL’S REDUCES THE COST OF TRAVEL

Bus company introduces off-peak tickets on its ClydeFlyer routes

From Friday 5 December, McGill’s will lower the price of travel between Inverclyde,
Braehead and Glasgow city centre, with the introduction of an off-peak day return ticket
across its ClydeFlyer services . The new off-peak tickets will offer discounts of up to 40% on
standard adult and child day return fares.

Ralph Roberts, Managing Director of McGill’s, said:

“McGill’s is delighted to offer these new, cheaper off-peak tickets across all ClydeFlyer 901,

906 and 907 services between Gourock, Greenock and Port Glasgow, to Braehead and

Glasgow city centre.“

“From Friday, customers travelling after 9am between Port Glasgow and Glasgow city

centre or Braehead will pay just £5 return. From Greenock, off-peak travellers can enjoy a

£5.50 day return. McGill’s Gourock passengers will also save, with a great-value £6 day

return on offer. Kids off-peak day returns start at only £2.50.

The off-peak day return ticket will be available for travel any time after 9am, excluding 4pm-

6pm, Monday to Friday. At the weekends, the off-peak ticket is valid at any time of the day,

on any of our frequent ClydeFlyer services – great news for families heading to Glasgow or

Braehead from Inverclyde.”

Ralph added:
“Making our money go further is always at the top of the agenda – even more so at this time
of year when budgets are being stretched to cover the cost of Christmas. We believe that
these new off-peak fares, taken alongside our Go!Zone multi-journey ticket range, are a
clear indication that McGill’s is the affordable, relaxing and reliable alternative to the train
and the car for journeys to Glasgow and Braehead.”

Notes to editors:
McGill’s operates over 400 buses across more than 90 routes throughout Renfrewshire and Inverclyde. There
are more than a half a million journeys on a McGill’s bus every week. The company currently employs over
800 people across its five depots in Greenock, Inchinnan, Johnstone, Barrhead and Hamilton.

The new off-peak ticket will be on offer across all ClydeFlyer services which are its 901, 906, 907 routes. The
ticket is valid for travel anytime after 9am, excluding 4pm-6pm, Monday to Friday. It can be used at any time
on a Saturday and Sunday.

The ClydeFlyer 901 and 906 routes recently saw the introduction of fourteen new Mercedes-Benz Euro 6
buses, following the company’s £2.5m investment.

From an environmental perspective, the Euro 6 buses introduced by McGill’s will be the first for Glasgow. The
technology – which gives a 95% reduction in NOx emissions over the Euro 5 – is great news for the City,
pedestrians, passengers and the environment in general.
