ENGI 9121 Course Outline
ENGI 9121 Course Outline
Rationale
Risk
analysis
(RA)
is
being
widely
applied
to
all
most
every
engineering
and
management
sector.
In
many
of
the
engineering
sectors
such
as
chemical,
oil
and
gas,
environment,
risk
analysis
has
been
adopted
as
part
of
regulatory
framework
by
relevant
authorities.
RA
is
increasingly
applied
to
validate
claims
for
safety/environmental
benign
characteristics
or
to
demonstrate
the
need
for
further
improvement.
It
is
also
increasingly
used
in
the
engineering
system
design
and
decision-‐making.
This
course
is
to
provide
an
in-‐depth
understanding
of
safety
and
risk
and
it
modeling,
simulation
and
use
in
design
and
decision-‐making.
