Undoubtedly pi or π is the most interesting number in mathematics, and its history will remain a never‐
ending story. It occurs in several formulas of mensuration and is variously involved in many branches of
mathematics, including geometry, trigonometry, and analysis.
The Indian mathematicians of the Vedic period again approximate Pi to 3.1416 by means of astronomical
calculations.
How to Calculate the Value of Pi?
The value of pi can be calculated with the help of a simple activity. Follow the steps given below to know
why the value of pi is the ratio of the circumference to the diameter of the circle:
Step 1: Draw a circle of diameter 1 unit.
Step 2: After this step, take a thread and place it along the border of the circle (the circumference).
Step 3: Now, place the thread on the ruler and note the length.
C÷d=π
i) Try using three different sized circles( household items) and see how close you get to 3.14. and
present in tabular form.
(OR)
For most calculations, NASA uses 15 digits: 3.141592653589793.
ii) By using this value make a necklace/ bracelet/ accessories.
Using your creativity to depict the given value of Pi in making different
accessories.
Follow the steps given below:
Using beads of different colors, children can string together a sequence that mirrors
the digits of Pi.
To start, gather your materials: colorful beads, a string, thread, or even a pipe
cleaner will suffice. The beauty of this activity lies in its flexibility; you can use whatever supplies you have
on hand. Then, begin stringing the beads by the digits of Pi. For example, start with three beads of one color,
followed by one bead of another color, then four beads of a different color, and so on. As you continue
threading the beads, you'll notice a pattern emerging that corresponds to the numerical sequence of Pi.

Value: Environmental Initiatives"
In the heart of a bustling city, a group of eighth-grade students, led by their passionate physics teacher,
embarked on an eye-opening journey to explore renewable energy sources. As they inquire into their physics
lessons, they discovered the potential of solar, wind, and hydroelectric power to combat climate change and
protect the environment. Inspired by their new-found knowledge, the students decided to action on their own
community.
Imagine if you are one among the eighth-grade students, Describe the steps you will take to explore
renewable energy sources and how you inspire your community. illustrate your action plan with pictures

FASHIONING SUSTAINABILITY: REDEFINING APPAREL WITH UPCYCLED FABRICS
Most of today's apparel doesn’t break down easily when
discarded, ending up in polluting landfills for decades or even
centuries. So, some basic changes in the fashion industry's attitude
to sustainable materials would have a major long-term benefit to
the planet.
If more fabric itself is sustainable, several of today's fashion
industry challenges around pollution and sustainability would be
immediately addressed. Let’s learn to be sustainable and create
something best out of waste.
• In a chart paper, design a costume using different types of fabrics available at home or from an old
outfit as shown in the picture above.

HARNESSING THE POWER OF INDIGENOUS SEEDS: PROMOTING HEALTH AND
BIODIVERSITY
Scientists use gene editing to improve crops and animals.
Hybrid fruits and vegetables are more nutritious, drought-
tolerant, and resistant to pests and diseases along with their
health benefits. The Green Revolution increased wheat and
rice, but at the expense of indigenous varieties, leading to their
decline and extinction. However, with growing awareness of
healthy eating and the value of local food, fuelled in part by
social media influencers promoting indigenous foods, there's a
resurgence of indigenous varieties in Indian households and
agriculture
Let us promote our indigenous seeds and empower our
farmers.
Choose one of the questions from the following to do science Homework.
• Research and collect information on benefits of indigenous varieties of seeds and their impact on
health. Present the information in the form of PPT. Collect at least 10 indigenous variety seeds and make
your own seed bank.
• In recent years, the number of people affected by wheat allergy or gluten or wheat sensitivity has
risen sharply. Research on what is gluten intolerance and why the sudden increase in gluten intolerance is
seen in the past 50 years and present it on an A4 sheet.
• Make a Mahbubani art on an A4 sheet depicting your idea about the future of Indian agriculture.
