The intent of this document is to provide initial product information to resellers and managed print service
providers. It is not intended for end-user or customer use. The data contained within this document reflect
estimates made without actual field data, and are intended as guidelines. Confidentiality and nondisclosure
agreements apply to the use of the information contained herein.

Actual product performance is dependent on several factors, including, but not limited to type of usage or
workflows, environmental conditions, media types, and proper preventative maintenance.

NOTE: All service parts are required to be replaced by a qualified service technician authorized by HP Inc. To be
qualified, a technician has to attend training for this product, take all pre-requisite courses for the product, and
pass the qualification test during the training. For more information, see Training on page 11

NOTE: All part numbers listed in this document might change.

2 Estimates for print usage and failure: AMPV
and MIBF

This section provides information on the following topics:

● Average Monthly Print Volume (AMPV) and Mean Images Between Failures (MIBF)

● Estimated Recommended Print Volumes and Maximum Usage

2 Chapter 2 Estimates for print usage and failure: AMPV and MIBF ENWW
Average Monthly Print Volume (AMPV) and Mean Images Between
Failures (MIBF)
Average Monthly Print Volume (AMPV): The average number of images printed or copied per month.

NOTE: An image is defined as a single-sided letter/A4 page.

Mean Images Between Failures (MIBF): Value is calculated based on AMPV and estimated annualized service
event rate.

Table 2-1 AMPV and MIBF

Estimated Recommended Print Volumes and Maximum Usage

Recommended Monthly Print Volume (RMPV): The estimated number of images printed per month by the
average target customer for the product.

In most cases, using the product within this range will ensure the most efficient total cost per page.

Maximum Monthly Usage (Duty Cycle): A term used broadly in the printer industry to communicate the
robustness of the device. It is the estimated maximum capability of the device.

3 Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)

The Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) is the average time required to remove and replace an individual part in the
product.

NOTE: MTTR does not reflect the time taken to validate the part and check if the system is working properly.

MTTR Service Parts is the average time required to replace an individual service part. These times are for
experienced and trained copier technicians.

MTTR Maintenance and Consumables is the average time required to replace a maintenance part in the product.

Product Life
Print Engine Life

This is the number of pages the product was designed to perform at a given failure rate. The product will
continue to work past this number of pages; however, the MIBF will decrease as the product is used.

Actual engine life is dependent on several factors such as usage, environmental conditions, and proper
preventative maintenance.

NOTE: When the product engine has exceeded its rated life or has a regular extremely high monthly usage
above the recommended values, additional failures might occur. Potential failures include mechanical failures,
noises, squeaking gears and more frequent paper jams.

Serviceability Space Requirements

Ensure the printer is installed in an area with enough space around it for proper service access and ventilation.
Actual values will vary depending on the product configuration.

HP Inc. recommends that 3 feet be added to the printer sides and front to make sure there is sufficient space to
open the doors and covers.

The ADF when fully opened requires 20 inches above the level of the top. The back of the copier and wall needs
proper ventilation.

Acoustic Specifications
Ensure the printer is installed in an area where the printer sound level will not disturb workers.
