The School of Law (SoL) was established in 2009 and was granted provisional accreditation in 2011.
Mount Kenya University School of Law seeks to contribute to the training of competent lawyers
equipped with the necessary skills needed to achieve that aim, inter alia with knowledge of both
national and international laws. The student population is supported by a strong cadre of qualified
teaching and non-teaching staff dedicated to making Mount Kenya University School of Law, the model
School of Law in this region. The graduates from the programme, as practitioners, can work in
government, inter-governmental, non-governmental organizations and private practice. Plans are at an
advanced stage to launch the Master of Laws degree (LL.M). The LL.M is expected to offer
specializations in the fields of Sports Law, Governance and Rule of Law, International Law, Intellectual
Property Law, International Business Law and Health Law. The School has benefited from the MKU
dominance in ICT and has integrated ICT into its learning processes.

The SoL has immense facilities that anchor its program, staff and students .To this end, the School has

The School runs a Mount Kenya University Law Journal which is peer-reviewed and recognized

journal are subjected to at least two peer-reviews. Only those recommended for publication are indeed
printed in the journal.

The LLB Programme seeks to equip learners with broad based skills and knowledge that is applicable
both to Kenya and the International legal arena.
