Folk songs・Shamisen: Mr.

Yūsuke Kenmochi
Born in Nagoya, he learned folk songs from his father, Yutaka
Kenmochi, from an early age, and made his stage debut at the age
of three. He appears on NHK TV and radio as a young male folk
song singer leading the future generation. Moreover, he is active on
both national and international stage.

Classical Japanese dance: Ms. Hanaka Nishikawa


Born in Kōta (Aichi Prefecture), she started Nishikawa style classical
Japanese dance at the age of 6. At nine she made her 「Nagoya-o-
dori」stage debut at 9 and since then, she appeared on numerous
stages. On December 2021 during Japan Day at the Dubai Expo
she performed「Spring Sea」「The heron maiden」。

Flute: Ms. Hikaru Haneda


Born in Nagoya, she had her first encounter with Wadaiko Japanese
drums when she was an elementary student. After graduation from
high school, besides Wadaiko Japanese drums, she devoted herself
to folk songs, folk dances, shinobue flutes and noh flutes and in
1999 she formed the Japanese drum unit “Hikari” with Koji Haneda.
Since then, she has been active both nationally and internationally.

Koto: Ms. Tomoe Sasano


Born in Nagoya, she started Ikuta style Koto when she was three.
Since participating in overseas performances at the age of 17, she
collaborated with many instrument-players across many countries
and music genres while exploring her own new musicality.
Currently, she is performing activities in both Japanese and
Western style. In December 2021 during Japan Day at Dubai
Expo she performed Japanese traditional music.
Lion Dance: Mr. Gintarō・Mr. Yanagiya Mikisuke

Born in Nagoya, they learnt traditional performing arts such as lion


dance and tate sword fighting under the guidance of their father,
Yosuke Shirahama, from an early age. The lion dance consists in a
dance of a pair of lions, a female one and a male one, belonging to
the Atsuta lineage, re-creating the flow of Ise Ookagura
performances. They perform the real Japanese traditional arts in a
wide range of genres at festivals, events and plays.

Folk dance: Ishikawa Reiko


Born in Nagano Prefecture but now living in Nagoya, she is the
Representative of the Association Nagoya Folk Dance Kasuri, based
on the idea that “the teacher is local”, she has visited folk dances all
over the country and deepened heartwarming exchanges of
learning.
She is happy to perform folk dances at independent performances,
junior high schools, hospitals, facilities and so on.

Traditional Japanese magic: Mr. Kento Mukai


Born in Nagoya, he started playing magic as a University club activity and

he started working as a magician after graduation. In 2018, he won one of

Europe s largest international competitions held in Italy. Although he is

specialized in both Japanese and Western Wazuma, he is active in Japana

well as overseas, refining his Japanese traditional wazuma performance

skills.
Wadaiko Japanese drums TSUWAMONO-Sai

A comprehensive Japanese art group (Representative:


Tetsuro Suzuki) combining Japanese drums and
traditional Japanese musical instruments with sword
dance. Moreover, he participates in the New Year event
at Hinjitsukan in Futamiura on New Year's Day and He
performs at festivals, hospital facilities, schools, etc. in
Aichi Prefecture and he has also appeared in many
overseas performances.

英語落語・進行 喜餅 English Rakugo Mr. Kimochi

Born in Handa. In 2010, he started his career as an


English rakugo storyteller after participating in an
English rakugo workshop given by master Sanki Katsura,
a Canadian rakugo storyteller.
About 40 stories are currently held OR Now he possesses
about 40 stories. (tradotto in italiano è … ha un
programma di 40 episodi)
He performs in storyteller’s theaters, junior high schools,
high schools, and universities throughout Japan. It has a
reputation (or he is considered) as an addictive English
rakugo. As a public speaker, he holds lectures and
workshops on communication and facilitation skills, and
aims to win the speech contest world championship as a
challenger himself.
OR as a challenger, he aims to win the speech contest
world championship.

八事の蝶々(八事の蝶々保存会)
細く割った竹と和紙で蝶々を作り色付けをした八事(名古屋市天白区)の
郷土玩具。明治維新後、職を失った武士が内職として作り、興正寺の門前
でそば饅頭とともに売り始め、八事遊園地の土産としても大変人気があっ
た。現在は、元小学校教員の安江春彦さんが八事の蝶々の保存に力をい
れており、後継者を探している。

「日本の祭典 2022 in NAgoya」によせて

江戸と関西の中央に位置する名古屋は江戸時代を通して文化力の優
れた土地でした。伊勢にも近く、尾張藩の後援もあってことに芸能文化は
長く芸所として鳴らしていました。名古屋の観客の芸に対する慧眼と鑑賞
眼は恐れられていたものでした。そんな名古屋(尾張)に残された尾張藩
の下級家臣小寺玉晃の『見世物雑誌』や同様の身分だった猿猴庵よって
纏められた『猿猴庵日記』などの資料を元に、近世江戸時代の名古屋の
街中を背景にバーチャル空間と今そこにある生の芸能を同時にそして江
戸時代にタイムスリップして散策していただこうという企画です。コロナ禍
の中、名古屋をそして伝統芸能に元気を与え、併せて楽しんで頂けるもの
と思います。是非とも皆様のご協力とご支援を頂戴したく、お願い申しあげ
る次第です。
