काँची क आँख म आँसू आ गए।

“दे खो काँची, बाहर नकलना सुर त

नह होगा। हम इस बारे म कुछ नह
कर सकते,” माँ ने कहा।
“दे खो बेटा काँची, को वड महामारी
अभी भी ज़ोर पर है और लॉक डाउन
“मगर आपने वादा कया था क मेरे
भी लगा आ है,” पापा बोले।
ज म दन पर आप मुझे होटल लेकर
चलगी,” काँची बोली।
“म तु हारे लए कुछ ब ढ़या सा पका
ँ गी,” माँ ने कहा।

“नह माँ, आप हमेशा बगन का भता बनाती ह।”

“अगर म उसम क टोले के कुछ तले ए टु कड़े मला ँ तो,

तु ह पस द आएगा,” पापा बोले।

काँची बालकनी म गई और बलख- बलख कर रोने लगी।

“म घर म पड़े -पड़े परेशान हो
चुक ँ। म पा टल ब धु के वहाँ
वड़ा पाव खाना चाहती ँ। मुझे
वाद भवन जाना है।”

पापा और माँ चुप रहे।

मगर काँची के रोने क आवाज़ ने
सनराइज़ सोसाइट के शा त
वातावरण म मानो हलचल सी
मचा द ।

जानक अ जी ने यार से पूछा,
“ य बेटा, वाद भवन म या
खाना पस द है तुमको?”

काँची पहले तो ज़रा झझक , फर

बोली, “मुझे वहाँ क चाऊमीन,
लेमन राईस, आलू के पराँठे, बटर
चकन और पेपर डोसा अ छा
लगता है।”

“अरे, यह तो ब त सारे पकवान हो

गए।” जानक अ जी बोल ,
“दे खो! ऐसा करते ह क म तु हारे
लए केले के प े पर घी के साथ
अ क रोट और साथ म ना रयल
क चटनी बना ँ गी। चावल का
घोल मेरे पास तैयार पड़ा आ है।”

“हाँ ये ब ढ़या रहेगा, अ जी,”
काँची अब थोड़ी ख़ुश ई।

भ सले अंकल बोले, “तु ह आलू वड़ी पस द है या?

म ब त ब ढ़या आलू वड़ी बनाता ँ।”

“मने खाया तो नह है पर चखना ज़ र चा ँगी!”

“म कई तरह के पौ क शरबत बना लेता ँ, तु ह इ ह
पीकर ज़ र दे खना चा हए,” पाथ ने कहा।
“आजकल बेल का मौसम है। म तु हारे लए काला
नमक डालकर मज़ेदार बेल का प ना बना ँ गा ।
पीकर दे खना एकदम तरोताज़ा हो जाओगी।”

“ध यवाद, पाथ !”

“काँची म जानती ँ क तुम बगन के भत से तंग आ चुक हो,”
भीमा आंट बोल । “अगर म उसी बगन से ल चोखा बना ँ
तो? मेरे बनाए चोखे क ख़ुशबू से ही तु हारे मुँह म पानी आ
जाएगा!”

“ य नह भीमा आंट , ज़ र बना द जए।”

“आप या पका रही ह, ब जू अ का, बड़ी अ छ महक आ
रही है?” काँची ने पूछा।
“म ब गूलो चकन पका रही ँ। ये हमारे गाँव क एक खास डश है।
इसम मसालेदार चकन को एक बाँस के खोखले टु कड़े म भरकर,
फर उसे साल के प े से ढँ ककर गम कोयले पर पकाते ह, जससे
उसका वाद उभर कर आता है। चखोगी या?”

“दे र कस बात क ? म एकदम तैयार ँ।”

“अरे काँची, तु हारे लए आलू मुरी का ना ता बनाऊँ
या जैसा क शल ग म बनाते ह? म अपने दो त के
लए बना रही ँ,” ेमा द द ने पूछा।

“वाह! आलू तो मुझे ब त पस द ह।”

तभी ज़े वयर अंकल बोले, “अरे काँची, भला तुम केरल के

टै पयोका वाले खास च स के बना ज म दन कैसे मना सकती
हो? एक खाओगी तो आलू के च स भूल जाओगी।”

“वैसे तो आलू मुझे बेहद पस द है पर म टापी… टापी... ओका

च स अव य चखना चा ँगी,” काँची ने जवाब दया।

काँची के ज म दन के समारोह क तैया रयाँ ज़ोर-शोर से शु हो ग थ ।
सबीना ने मछली का वडालू बनाया।
डोलानी अंकल ने सधी बरयानी बनाई जसम आलू के बड़े -बड़े टु कड़े थे।
अमी और कायु ने गुलगुला नाम क गढ़वाली मठाई बनाई।

छे ड़ा अंकल और आंट ने कपड़े सुखाने वाली र सी नकालकर उसे एक घर से सरे घर
के बीच बाँधकर एक हवाई माग बनाया।
माँ और पापा ने काँची क पुरानी रंगीन कॉ पय के प न से पड़ो सय के लए रंग- बरंगी
टो पयाँ बना ।

के सहारे पकवान आने-जाने लगे।

काँची ने दावत का ख़ूब आन द

उठाया।

मधु अभी को वड-19 से पूरी तरह

से व थ नह ई थी पर सभी के
ज़द करने पर उसने भी ज म
भाग लया। उसने अपने स टम पर
मज़ेदार फ़ मी गाने बजाए।
