Carole: And do most people in your family live in the same town or village?

Fahad: No, quite, ah, far away from my – my house, yeah.

Carole: Why?

Fahad: Because the government they give us the different you know place and, yeah.

Carole: When did you last have a family party?

Fahad: Last party – maybe la- last year.

Part 2
Carole: Well, now I'll give you a subject to tell – tell me something about. You have a minute to prepare,
and here's some paper and a pencil to make notes.

And here's the subject: can you describe a place in another part of the world that you would love
to visit in the future?

Fahad: Um hm.

Carole: OK. So would you like to begin?

Fahad: Yes. Ah, the – the part of the country I would love to visit is, ah, Italy, especially Milan, ah,
because I have, ah, many friends there and it's a nice, ah, city, and I would love to visit, ah,
Milan in the future.

And hopefully in one year I will be there, because I heard about Milan and, ah, especially like,
ah, the club Milan, yeah. And because it's a beautiful city and, ah, I heard about the shopping
and I like shopping, and especially Milan it's famous I think for if you want to do some shopping
there.

And, ah, as I said I have many friends there, and I would love to go, and, um, I will go by plane,
ah, me and my friends, we have planned yes we have decided before, and I think we will enjoy
there.

And why I will go there because I want to see my friend, and as I said I have many friends there,
and I will love to stay with them for a week or, yeah.

Carole: Um ...

Fahad: Ah, that’s – that’s it.

Carole: OK, thank you. And do you enjoy travelling generally?

Fahad: Yes, I like travelling.

Carole: OK, thank you, can I have this back please, thank you very much.
Part 3
Carole: OK, well you've spoken about another part of the world that you'd love to visit in the future, so
now let's discuss some related subjects.

For what reasons do you think international travel has increased in recent years?

Fahad: Ah that's an interesting question because, ha, the people like maybe to know about the different
culture and to find, ah, the – the way how people they live in this country, and they will learn
maybe some language or, yeah.

Carole: Mm, some people say it's important for people to find out about another country before they visit
it, do you agree?

Fahad: Yes, some of them, especially me, before I came to the UK, ah, I ask my friend what the people
they like there, yeah many question, yeah.

Carole: How useful is it for people to understand the language of the countries they visit?

Fahad: It's important sometimes to know how to speak or to contact with the others, especially if you, for
example, for me I speak Arabic and I need to speak English so it's, ah, it's quite difficult for me.
But it's, ah, useful to speak, ah, many language I suppose for the rest of the time.

Carole: OK, now let's consider the tourism industry. Does tourism play a big part in the economy of your
country?

Fahad: Yes, at the moment, yes nowadays, because we have, ah, many, ah, hotels and many, ah, like
big mall in my country, and many count- and we have especially museum, it's famous now, and
I, I've – I've met, ah, a ladies, she from – Croatia. And, ah, I met her in the airport and she told
me I just visit your country just for the museum. So it's helped I think the tourism.

Carole: And what kinds of unpredictable factor can have a negative effect on the tourism industry?

Fahad: Ah, I have no idea but I think it's quite often it's happened.

Carole: Mm. What kind of unpredictable factor can have a negative effect on the tourism industry?
Fahad: I have no idea about the question.

Carole: OK. In the future what kinds of development might there be in the tourism industry?

Fahad: It will help the tourism to visit many countries, yeah, and to learn as you said, ah, the different
culture.

Carole: Thank you, that's the end of the test.
