A graphic organizer is a teaching and learning
tool that is used to organize information and
ideas in a way that is easy to comprehend and
internalize..
The graphic organizer is a visual
display, it demonstrates relationships
between facts, concepts, or ideas. It
guides your thinking as you fill in a
visual map or diagram.
For the graphic tools
to be useful you must
be able to identify
TEXT STRUCTURES.

things; it helps to visualize similarities and
differences
Concept Map
is a diagram that shows the relationships
between different ideas. This helps you
understand how they’re connected.
To create a concept map, write your topic in the
middle of the page, then jot down different ideas,
points, or facts related to or support your topic.
Every concept map — whether it’s simple or complex — is
made up of two key elements:

•CONCEPTS: These are typically represented by circles,

ovals, or boxes and are called “nodes.”

•RELATIONSHIPS: These are represented by arrows that

connect the concepts, and the arrows often include a
connecting word or verb (but they don’t have to). These
arrows are called “cross-links.”
Flowchart
This concept map shows the steps of a
process. Typically, the arrows represent
different choices that are made or actions that
are taken — almost like you’re choosing your
own adventure.
WHEN TO USE IT: When you need to understand a
process or make a decision.
Bar Graphs
are used to compare
things between different
groups or to track
changes over time.
Pie Chart Diagrams
(also called circle graphs) are a
type of graphic organizer that are
useful for displaying information
about the percentages or parts of a
whole.
Outline
It organizes materials
hierarchically and sequentially
by classifying the main topics,
subtopics, and supporting details.
Two General Types Of Outlines
1. Sentence Outline

sentences,

2. Topic Outline
= uses words or phrases.
Why do you think its

representations in pursuing
high achievement standards
in everything you do?
