(AC-S013) Week 13 - Task Assignment – Plans and
predictions(TA3)
You: Hi! How's everything going?
You: I'm good, thanks. I wanted to talk to you about my future plans and get your thoughts. Since
you're both a civil engineer and an accountant, your perspective would be really valuable.
Friend: Of course! I'd be happy to help. What are you thinking about?
You: Well, I'm considering a few options. Firstly, I'm thinking about pursuing a career in project
management. I feel like it's a good blend of my interests in both engineering and business.
Friend: That sounds like a solid plan. Project management is a crucial role in both engineering
and business sectors. What specific industry are you looking at?
You: I'm leaning towards construction and infrastructure projects. I think my engineering
background would be really useful there.
Friend: Definitely. Your civil engineering knowledge will be a huge asset in understanding the
technical aspects of construction projects. And your interest in business will help with managing
budgets, schedules, and teams.
You: That's what I was thinking too. Another option I'm considering is getting an MBA to
broaden my business knowledge. Do you think that's a good idea?
Friend: An MBA could be a great move. It would give you a strong foundation in business
principles and open up more career opportunities, especially in management roles. Plus, it would
complement your engineering degree nicely.
You: Yeah, I believe it would help me in the long run. What about the job market? Do you think
there will be a high demand for project managers in the construction industry in the next few
years?
Friend: From what I've read, there is a growing demand for skilled project managers in
construction. With ongoing urban development and infrastructure projects, the industry needs
professionals who can oversee these large-scale projects efficiently.
You: That’s reassuring to hear. Lastly, I'm also considering starting my own consulting firm in the
future. Do you think that's feasible?
Friend: Starting your own firm could be very rewarding, but it comes with its challenges. You'll
need a solid business plan, initial capital, and a strong network. However, with your background
and if you gain some industry experience first, it could definitely be feasible.
You: Thanks for the advice. I think I have a lot to consider, but talking to you has given me some
clarity.
Friend: Anytime! I'm glad I could help. Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll do great.
