I am writing to invite you to participate in The Schools Star programme, an initiative of the
GCRA, Department of Education, Gauteng Province.

The Schools Star programme is a talent recognition programme looking to boost the learning
and career prospects of the most talented Grade 12 learners in the country. If a learner
reaches Top100 in this programme, they will be added to the GCRA bursary recipients – this
is a wild card opportunity for your learners to receive a GCRA bursary.

The characteristics assessed are:

1. Curiosity (asking powerful questions)
2. Learning agility (I always learn)
3. Growth Mindset (I can grow)
4. Adaptability (How to Change)
5. Change Resilience (Building Confidence for Change)
6. Connectedness (Building Relationships with Others)

What would our learners gain from this program?

● Personal insight into themselves and the career path they are interested in.

● The recognition of being published as part of the Top 500 / Top 100

● A student buddy

● A powerful network of talented individuals their age.

● Access to our other programs which will provide them with a network and prospects
in university and in the workforce.

The program is free and all we require from the Grade 12s is 10 minutes of their time to
complete the online registration and self-assessment at www.schoolsstar.com. Deadline for
entries is 30 May 2024.
