METHOD OF STATMENT

Method Statement for Irrigation System

This Method Statement for Irrigation System defines the general procedure implemented
for the installation of the irrigation systems as per project specifications, and installation
details drawings.
1- 1” Remote-control Valve method of statement
a. The remote-control valve assembly shall incorporate the following components
starting from No. 1 in the inlet side to No. 9 in the outlet side:
1. PE compression male adaptor 32 mm x 1”.
2. Bronze gate valve 1” FTHD.
3. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 1”.
4. Union brass or stainless-steel 1” FTHD.
5. Y pattern disc filter 1” MTHD.
6. Solenoid valve (ICV-101G-B) with on-top pressure regulator (Accu Sync)
7. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 1”.
8. Union brass or stainless-steel 1” FTHD.
9. PE compression male adaptor 32 mm x 1”.

b. The remote-control valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE rectangular valve
box- series 1320.
The HDPE rectangular valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top
of the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 300 mm depth, 285 mm width, and 450 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE rectangular valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner
side shall be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 100 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

c. The remote-control valve assembly shall have an identification Tag fixed on the wheel
of the bronze gate valve.
d. Each remote-control valve assembly shall have one single station
decoder (ICD-100) linked from one side the coil of the solenoid valve and to the
decoder twisted cable from the other.
The connection between the wires of the single station decoder and that of the
decoder twisted cable and of the coil shall be done using 3M DBRY/6 waterproof wire
connectors.
The copper non-insulated wire shall be inserted in the soil to ensure an electrical surge
protection.

The riser from the irrigation main line to which the remote-control valve assembly is
connected shall be 63 mm sized down to 50 mm prior to the inlet side of the remote-
control valve assembly. All the PE fittings unless noted shall be of the butt-weld type.
2- 1 1/2” Remote-control Valve method of statement
a. The remote-control valve assembly shall incorporate the following components
starting from No. 1 in the inlet side to No. 9 in the outlet side:
1. PE compression male adaptor 50 mm x 1 1/2”.
2. Bronze gate valve 1 1/2” FTHD.
3. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 1 1/2”.
4. Union brass or stainless-steel 1 1/2” FTHD.
5. Y pattern disc filter 1 1/2” MTHD.
6. Solenoid valve (ICV-151G-B) with on-top pressure regulator (Accu Sync)
7. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 1 1/2”.
8. Union brass or stainless-steel 1 1/2” FTHD.
9. PE compression male adaptor 50 mm x 1 1/2”.

b. The remote-control valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE rectangular valve
box- series 1320.
The HDPE rectangular valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top
of the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 300 mm depth, 285 mm width, and 450 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE rectangular valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner
side shall be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 100 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

c. The remote-control valve assembly shall have an identification Tag fixed on the wheel
of the bronze gate valve.
d. Each remote-control valve assembly shall have one single station decoder (ICD-100)
linked from one side the coil of the solenoid valve and to the decoder twisted cable
from the other.
The connection between the wires of the single station decoder and that of the
decoder twisted cable and of the coil shall be done using 3M DBRY/6 waterproof wire

3- 2” Remote-control Valve method of statement
a. The remote-control valve assembly shall incorporate the following components
starting from No. 1 in the inlet side to No. 9 in the outlet side:
10. PE compression male adaptor 63 mm x 2”.
11. Bronze gate valve 2” FTHD.
12. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 2”.
13. Union brass or stainless-steel 2” FTHD.
14. Y pattern disc filter 2” MTHD.
15. Solenoid valve (ICV-201G-B) with on-top pressure regulator (Accu Sync)
16. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 1 1/2”.
17. Union brass or stainless-steel 2” FTHD.
18. PE compression male adaptor 63 mm x 2”.

b. The remote-control valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE rectangular valve
box- series 1324.
The HDPE rectangular valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top
of the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 300 mm depth, 420 mm width, and 635 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE rectangular valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner
side shall be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 100 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

c. The remote-control valve assembly shall have an identification Tag fixed on the wheel
of the bronze gate valve.
d. Each remote-control valve assembly shall have one single station decoder (ICD-100)
linked from one side the coil of the solenoid valve and to the decoder twisted cable
from the other.
The connection between the wires of the single station decoder and that of the
decoder twisted cable and of the coil shall be done using 3M DBRY/6 waterproof wire
connectors.

4- Quick coupling valve method of statement
a. The quick coupling valve assembly shall incorporate the following components
starting from No. 1 in the inlet side to No. 4 in the outlet side:
1. PE compression male adaptor 25 mm x 3/4”.
2. Bronze gate valve 3/4” FTHD.
3. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 3/4”.
4. Quick coupling valve (HQ-33DLRC).

b. The quick coupling valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE round valve box-
series 910.
The HDPE round valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top of
the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 200 mm depth, 260 mm width, and 260 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE round valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner side shall
be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 300 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

c. The quick coupling valve assembly shall be fixed using a stiffener, galvanized steel bar
800 mm length with stainless-steel hose clamps for support.

The riser from the irrigation main line to which the quick coupling valve assembly is connected
shall be 50 mm sized down to 25 mm prior to the inlet side of the quick coupling valve
assembly. All the PE fittings unless noted shall be of the butt-weld type.
5- Quick coupling valve method of statement
a. The quick coupling valve assembly shall incorporate the following components
starting from No. 1 in the inlet side to No. 4 in the outlet side:
5. PE compression male adaptor 32 mm x 31”.
6. Bronze gate valve 1” FTHD.
7. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 1”.
8. Quick coupling valve (HQ-44RC).

b. The quick coupling valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE round valve box-
series 910.
The HDPE round valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top of
the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 200 mm depth, 260 mm width, and 260 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE round valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner side shall
be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 300 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

c. The quick coupling valve assembly shall be fixed using a stiffener, galvanized steel bar
800 mm length with stainless-steel hose clamps for support.

The riser from the irrigation main line to which the quick coupling valve assembly is
connected shall be 50 mm sized down to 25 mm prior to the inlet side of the quick
coupling valve assembly. All the PE fittings unless noted shall be of the butt-weld type.
6- Air/vacuum release valve method of statement
a. The double acting Air/vacuum release valve assembly shall incorporate the following
components starting from No. 1 in the inlet side to No. 4 in the outlet side:
1. PE compression male adaptor 63 mm x 2”.
2. Bronze gate valve 2” FTHD.
3. Hex nipple brass or stainless-steel 2”.
4. 2” double acting air/vacuum release valve (D-040).

b. The double acting Air/vacuum release valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE
round valve box- series 910.
The HDPE round valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top of
the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 200 mm depth, 260 mm width, and 260 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE round valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner side shall
be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 300 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

The riser from the irrigation main line to which the double acting Air/vacuum release
valve assembly is connected shall be 63 mm. All the PE fittings unless noted shall be
of the butt-weld type.
7- Isolation valve method of statement

a. Isolation Valves should be protected from damage during transportation, loading, and
handling.

b. Lifting by means of any lifting device should only be done using the flange holes, lifting
eyes, or appropriate straps. Never suspend the valve in a handwheel, gearbox, or
actuator.

c. Before installation, a visual check must be performed. Special attention should be paid
to checking the system, valve seat area, flanges, and coating. Look for defects, bent or
out-of-place parts, dents, scratches, and other damages. Actions should be taken to repair
or replace the valves if any defects are detected.

d. Bolts must be tightening in a criss/cross pattern. Actions should be taken to ensure even
pressure on the gasket surface.

The isolation Valve assembly shall incorporate the following components:

1. Gate valve, flanged, ductile or cast iron.


2. Flanged adaptor, ductile or cast iron.
3. Main line pipe, HDPE 16 bars.
4. Valve box, circular, Model 910.
5. Square ring base, Concrete 400×400×100 mm.
6. Pipe as support, PVC Class 3, 10mm (4”), Cut length to suit depth of valve.
7. Support base concrete, 300 × 140 ×250 mm (L ×W × D) to suit depth of valve.
8. T-Key, Epoxy-coated steel.
9. Anti-Corrosion PE tape.
10. Identification tag.
11. GEO-Textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
8- Washing out valve method of statement
On completion of the system hydrostatic test, the system is to be thoroughly
flushed, the velocity of water being at least l.0 m/s. Should the main water supply be
unavailable or inadequate for this purpose at the time of flushing, then a swab of
adequate size shall be used to remove all foreign matter from the pipeline.
This process shall continue until the pipeline is completely clean. Each control valve
shall be opened separately, and the terminal systems also thoroughly flushed.

The Washing out Valve assembly shall incorporate the following components:
1. Gate valve, flanged, ductile or cast iron.
2. Flanged adaptor, ductile or cast iron.
3. Main line pipe, HDPE 16 bars.
4. Valve box, circular, Model 910.
5. Square ring base, Concrete 400×400×100 mm.
6. Pipe as support, PVC Class 3, 10mm (4”), Cut length to suit depth of valve.
7. Support base concrete to suit depth of valve.
8. T-Key, Epoxy-coated steel.
9. Anti-Corrosion PE tape.
10. Identification tag.
9- Root zone watering system method of statement
a. The root zone watering system (RZWS2450-LB) will be used as the application devices
on the trees. Each tree will be provided with 2 Nos.
The RZWS2450-LB is a full system incorporate one PCB-50 (0.5 GPM) pressure
compensating bubbler ready with ½” swing joint.
The 2 Nos. of RZWS2450-LB will be installed at 25 cm on opposite sides from the tree
trunk.
b. Each of the RZWS2450-LB will be installed as per the following steps:
1. Create a round cavity with the dimensions of 610 mm depth by 120 mm diameter.
2. Wrap the mesh tube of the RZWS2450-LB with Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable
membrane (sleeve).
3. Connect the spiral barb elbow of the RZWS2450-LB with the lateral line passing
nearby through the saddle (xx mm x ½”)
4. Insert the Wrapped mesh tube of the RZWS2450-LB into the round cavity ensuring
the top of the RZWS2450-LB will be flush with the finish level.
5. Fill the gap between the wrapped RZWS2450-LB and cavity wall with ¾” crushed
gravel layer.
6. Make sure to have the wrapped mesh tube of the RZWS2450-LB is placed correctly
and do not have empty spaces between the sleeve and the soil.
7. Open the cap of the RZWS2450-LB and start fill the tube of the RZWS2450-LB with
¾” crushed gravel till the bottom of the internal spiral barb elbow.
8. Close the cap to its position.

10- Automatic flush valve (drip line) method of statement


a. The automatic flush valve assembly shall incorporate the following component:
1. Automatic flush valve with 16 mm barb inlet to be inserted inside the Hunter HDL
drip line. Secure the connection (prevent slipping) by using hose clamp UV
resistant.
b. The automatic flush valve assembly shall be placed inside a HDPE round valve box-
series 610.
The HDPE round valve box is placed on a concrete base ensuring to bring the top of
the valve box 20 mm higher than the finish grade.
A cavity with the dimensions of 200 mm depth, 140 mm width, and 140 mm length
should be created inside the concrete base.
Both the HDPE round valve box from the outer side and the cavity from inner side shall
be wrapped with a Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.
A layer of 200 mm of ¾” crushed gravel shall be placed inside the cavity above the
Geo-textile fabric semi-permeable membrane.

11- Irrigation drip lines method of statement


Irrigation drip lines shall be installed for irrigating the ground cover and shrubs
areas.
- Drip lines shall be Polyethylene lines with inline pressure
compensating and continuous self-cleaning emitters flow is 3.4 LPH, spacing
between emitters is 45 cm, and spacing between lines is 45 cm.
- Irrigation drip lines shall be looped continuous drip lines surrounding the
planting areas.
- Drip lines shall be laid parallel to the longest axis of the planting area, and to
avoid tree Basins when laying drip lines.
- All drip lines fittings shall be compatible with the drip lines size and from the
same manufacturer.
- Auto flush valve’s locations shall be on the lowest points and on service
locations.

The Drip lines assembly shall incorporate the following component:

a. Polyethylene Drip lines with inline pressure compensating and continuous


self-cleaning emitters flow is 3.4 LPH, spacing between emitters is 45 cm, and
spacing between lines is 45 cm.
b. Lateral To Drip lines transition take off.
c. Manifold or laterals, HDPE pipes, PN10, sizes per plan.
d. Control valve assembly, size as per plan.
e. Automatic Flush Valve, Barbed, plumbed to drip line.
f. Shrub or ground cover planting area.
g. Tree or palm.

12- Decoder Controller method of statement:


2-wires decoder controller is designed to operate Hunter ICD
decoders. The ICD decoders must be programmed with station numbers before they will
operate.
Some devices (Pump/Master Valves and sensors) may be assigned to decoder locations,
and those individual setup screens now include this option.

a. Control equipment shall be installed exactly as per manufacturer specification.


b. Controller shall be secured to a concrete pad with approved anchor bolts. Chipping,
cracking, or otherwise marring the finish of the enclosure when securing to the
concrete pad shall be avoided.
c. Earthing and surge protection shall be included as per manufacturer
recommendation.
d. All electrical works from the power supply to the distribution point shall be carried
out inclusive of necessary cables and switch fuses -all to IEE regulations.
e. Programming of Irrigation Controller: Using the controller schedule provided on the
drawings, as a guide, the irrigation controller shall be programmed to correspond
with the initial irrigation sequencing and duration of the cycles for each zone.
f. Irrigation schedule has to be modified to achieve a correct irrigation regime during
establishment and maintenance in accordance with good horticultural practice, such
modification shall be approved by the engineer.
g. Drilling of earth boreholes.
h. Place a ground rod in the drilled hole. Copper bonded rods will be conjoined with
threaded couplings as necessary to reach the required depth.
i. After the rods have been driven to the correct levels, connect the earthing rod using
bolted and clamp-type connectors, and interconnection will be done as per
approved drawings. Take a measurement of the earth resistance value with the drill
submerged in the drilled hole.
j. After all the connections have been completed, backfill until the test level. Perform
tightness test for all connections.
k. Surge protection will be mounted to the Irrigation controller as per the
manufacturer’s recommendation.

13- Irrigation twisted decoder cables method of statement.


a. all cables shall be twisted direct buried cables and to be laid in a straight line along
with the irrigation main lines above the crown of the pipes, unless if there is road
crossing or hardscape crossing so it must be inside UPVC sleeve pipes class 03.
b. Pull wire shall be installed in the conduit.
c. During the installation, the cable drums turning, or rolling will be slowed down or
stop by wooden friction brakes to prevent the turns of the drum from becoming
loose and scrapping on the floor.
d. Splicing using 3M wire connector: Firmly grasp wires, making sure installation ends
are even and tightly bundled, lead stranded wires slightly, Slip the connector over
wire tips. Turn connector onto wires in clockwise direction until secure.
e. Signal cable shall be installed in such a manner that ensures that it is not stretched
/scraped/damaged/laid down under tension.
f. All cable joints will be made ensuring that at least one meter of cable is slack.
g. All cable joints shall be housed in a chamber/pull box.
h. All the wire connections/splices shall be waterproof.
i. Cables inside the conduit shall be loose for easy installation, operation, and
maintenances.
j. Cable shall be laid to a minimum depth of 500 mm in mainline trench lines.
k. The signal cable does not lie directly adjacent to any 240V/415V power cable or
another communication cable.
l. Crossing of signal cable at right angles should be avoided wherever possible.
However, if necessary, cables should clear each other by approximately 100mm and
maintain minimum cover.
m. Signal cable shall be tested during the installation to ensure that there is no earth
leakage, and that continuity is present.
n. All power supply cables shall be steel wire armoured and where necessary shield
cables or ducts will be provided.
o. All electrical supply works carried out to local bylaw acceptance and shall conform to
state /local safety directives, including voltage drop and test certificates.
