My Friend

Sam’s Ambition

It has always been Sam’s dream to be a nurse


someday; that is why, she never stops reading and acting
like one.
One day, Sam played with her doll which acted as her
patient. She played the role of a nurse. Sam felt so happy.
Then came her dog and played with her.

Suddenly, Sam’s mom called her in. It was already
time for lunch. She stopped playing and hurriedly went to
the kitchen where her dad was already waiting.

What is It

It is easy for you to write the names of objects, things,


places, or persons if you can see pictures of them.
Vowels in English language represent a variety of
sounds; one of this is the short vowel sound.
In the story Sam’s Ambition, you encountered the
following words with short vowel sounds: doll, dog, Sam,
dad, and mom.
Here are some examples of pictures with their names
containing short a, e, i, o, and u.
