SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF

STRANGULATION
NEUROLOGICAL SCALP
Loss of memory Fainting Petechiae
Loss of consciousness Urination Bald spots (from hair being pulled)
Behavioral changes Defecation Bump to the head (from blunt force
Loss of sensation Vomiting trauma or falling to the ground)
Extremity weakness Dizziness
Difficulty speaking Headaches

EYES & EYELIDS EARS


Petechiae to eyeball Ringing in ears
Petechiae to eyelid Petechiae on earlobe(s)
Bloody red eyeball(s) Bruising behind the ear
Vision changes Bleeding in the ear
Droopy eyelid

FACE MOUTH
Petechiae (tiny red spots- Bruising
slightly red or florid) Swollen tongue
Scratch marks Swollen lips
Facial drooping Cuts/abrasions
Swelling Internal Petechiae

NECK
CHEST Redness
Chest pain Scratch marks
Redness Finger nail impressions
Scratch marks Bruising (thumb or fingers)
Bruising Swelling
Abrasions Ligature Marks

VOICE & THROAT CHANGES


Raspy or hoarse voice Coughing BREATHING CHANGES
Unable to speak Nausea
Trouble swallowing Drooling Difficulty breathing
Painful to swallow Sore throat Respiratory distress
Clearing the throat Stridor Unable to breathe
