BUOYANCY CHAMBER – Assembling the buoyancy
chamber on the hull
II-1-INSTALLING THE BUOYANCY CHAMBER ON THE HULL E
N
The buoyancy chamber is delivered installed on the hull. Follow the instructions below when G
replacing the buoyancy chamber. L
I
NOTE: The buoyancy chamber is fitted to the hull with the buoyancy
S
chamber deflated.
H

You can inflate the non-installed buoyancy chamber (pressure

240mb) and let it stabilize for around one hour. Then deflate it.

If the buoyancy chamber was stored at a temperature lower than

0°C, leave it for 12 hours at room temperature (20°C) before
folding it.

To facilitate the positioning of the buoyancy chamber, apply liquid soap (a) to the hull rails

Position the buoyancy chamber’s rope (a) on the hull’s rail (b) situated at the forward end
of the hull. Pull the buoyancy chamber until the mini-boltrope is brought opposite the
forward rail (c).

Page 21/68
BUOYANCY CHAMBER – Assembling the buoyancy
chamber on the hull
3

- Repeat for the other side of the buoyancy chamber.

- Bring the buoyancy chamber forward beneath the nose of the deck.
- Once again, pull the buoyancy chamber as far aft as possible, entering the boltrope into the
mini rail at the upper aft position.
- Inflate the nose of the buoyancy chamber slightly in order to verify that it is properly
centred and marries to the hull and the deck. Restart the process if the buoyancy chamber is
not correctly positioned.

BUOYANCY CHAMBER – Fixing

II-2-Fixing at the front

Pass the buoyancy chamber front strap through the channel plate and adjust the
longitudinal position by tightening or relaxing the strap. The buoyancy chamber is
properly positioned when the rubber side fender embeds itself into the forward polyester
notch.

II-3-3-Inflating the buoyancy chamber

Activate all valves in the inflation position.

Attach the hose connector to the inflator inflation port.

To inflate your boat properly, the inflator should be correctly placed on the ground.
The boat inflates rapidly if the inflator is used smoothly and without haste.

DO NOT USE A COMPRESSOR OR COMPRESSED AIR

CYLINDER.
CAUTION

Page 24/68
BUOYANCY CHAMBER - Pressure
II-4-1-Inflating the buoyancy chamber

• Place the adapter corresponding to the diameter of the semi built-in valve at the inflator E
hose nozzle. N
Inflate the buoyancy mechanism, balancing the pressure between the different G
compartments until the partitions (a) are no longer visible (pressure = 240 mb) L
I
Never pressurise a a S
compartment when the H
others are completely
deflated

Inflating is complete: Screw on the inflating valve caps

A slight air leak is normal before the valve cap is screwed on

NOTE: Only the caps guarantee final air tightness.

II-4-2-Pressure

The correct pressure for the buoyancy chamber is 240 mb/ 3.4 PSI

The ambient temperature of the air or Ambient temperature Buoyancy chamber

water proportionately influences the internal pressure
level of internal pressure in the +1°C +4 mb / 0.06 PSI
buoyancy chamber -1°C -4 mb / 0.06 PSI

Page 25/68
BUOYANCY CHAMBER - Pressure

Thus, it is important to anticipate:

Check and adjust the pressure of the inflatable compartments (inflating or deflating according
to the case) according to the temperature variations (especially when there is a considerable
difference in temperature between morning and evening in particularly hot areas) and make
sure that the pressure remains within the recommended pressure range (from 220 to 270 mb /
green sector).

RISK OF UNDERPRESSURE:

EXAMPLE: Your boat is exposed to direct sunlight on the beach (temperature=50°C)

at the recommended pressure (240 mb/3.4 PSI). When you launch it (temperature=20°C), the
temperature and internal pressure of the inflatable compartments will drop simultaneously (up
to 120 mb) and YOU WILL THEN NEED TO REINFLATE until you regain the millibars
lost due to the difference between the ambient air and water temperatures. A drop in pressure
at the end of the day, when the outside temperature is dropping, is normal.

RISK OF OVERPRESSURE:

EXAMPLE: Your boat is inflated to its recommended pressure (240 mb/3.4 PSI) at
the beginning or end of the day (low outside temperature = 10°C). Later in the day, your boat
is exposed in the sun on the beach or on a yacht deck (temperature = 50°C). The temperature
inside the inflatable compartments may rise to 70°C (particularly for dark buoyancy
chambers), doubling the initial pressure (480 mb). YOU WILL THEN NEED TO
DEFLATE the boat to return to the recommended pressure.

IF YOUR BOAT IS OVERINFLATED, THERE WILL BE UNDUE

PRESSURE ON THE INFLATABLE STRUCTURE THAT MAY
CAUTION RUPTURE IT.

IN THE EVENT OF OVERPRESSURE

EASY - PUSH VALVE:

Release air by depressing the
valve plunger

You may not always be able to use the full capability, it will depend on the trim, loading, and
position of the filling and draining points (if any).
Keep yourself informed about local regulations for respecting the environment, and comply
with codes of good practice.
Comply with the International regulations for preventing pollution in the marine environment
(Marpol).

Operation of the system for retaining black water.

The principle of use of the system is described in the attached outline drawing.

Using the toilet:

- open the seawater inlet valve, located on the side of the toilet, by turning the handle through
a quarter turn before actuating the electric pump,
- press the black button of the electric pump, on the bulkhead next to the toilet, in order to
operate the flushing system,
- close the seawater inlet valve when you have finished using the toilet.

Draining the black water tank:

There are two options: either discharge into the sea or discharge by pumping in harbour.
-1- Discharge into the sea (see local regulations for discharge distances from the coast):
- open the large black valve located in the starboard after equipment space on the hull by
turning the handle through a quarter turn,
- press the black switch on the bulkhead, at the forward end of the equipment space. Continue
to press the switch until the tank is empty,
- don’t forget to close the valve when the tank is empty.

Page 53/68
-2- Recovery using the harbour pumping system (ask the harbourmaster about the black water
recovery arrangements in the harbour):
- open the deck drain hole marked "waste",
- insert the pumping suction rod into the opening,
- continue suction until the tank is empty,
- close the drain hole at the end of the operation.

For reasons of hygiene, don’t forget to get the state of the charcoal filter connected to the
black water tank vent checked annually.

Rinse the system each time after use: fill the bowl with seawater or freshwater and then empty
it.
Clean using the same products as used for domestic purposes.
The system must be drained if the boat is parked in sub-zero temperatures.
In order to respect the environment:
Never discharge the contents of the retention tanks when near the coast, use the pumping
systems in harbours or marinas to empty the retention tanks before leaving harbour.
Make sure that the WC bowl emptying valve is closed in order to prevent any inadvertent
discharge.

REMEMBER TO OPEN THE WASTE WATER

DISCHARGE VALVE BEFORE USING THE ELECTRIC
PUMP TO DISCHARGE WASTE INTO THE SEA.
CAUTION
AVOID RUNNING THE PUMP WHEN THE TANK IS
EMPTY.
