Sodium Valproate and Valproic Acid tablets are prescribed for:


 Treatment of epilepsy
 Management of bipolar disorder
 Prevention of migraine headaches

How It Works
These medications work by stabilizing electrical activity in the brain, which helps to prevent seizures, stabilize mood, and reduce the frequency of migraine headaches.
Dosage and Administration
 Recommended Dose: As prescribed by your doctor. Dosages vary based on the condition being treated, patient age, weight, and response to the medication.
 Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew the tablet as it is designed to release the medication slowly.
 Missed Dose: Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses at the same time.

Precautions
 Before Taking the Medication:
o Inform your doctor if you have liver problems, urea cycle disorders, porphyria, or a history of suicidal thoughts or behavior.
o Inform your doctor of all medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements.

 During Treatment:
o Regular blood tests may be required to monitor your liver function and blood cell counts.
o Avoid alcohol as it can increase the risk of liver damage and enhance side effects.
o Use effective contraception if you are a woman of childbearing age due to the risk of birth defects.

 Breastfeeding: Valproate is excreted in breast milk. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
